Bars Today: A New Era in Mixology

0

Today, we can say that a bar is on par with the complexity of a restaurant. They have evolved so much that they are now ranked on an exclusive list of bars in the world.

Israel Diaz https://www.facebook.com/Alquimistacocktailroom

It is worth mentioning that Mexico plays a very important role in this list, as, of this selections, Mexico takes third place with bars located in Mexico. While we know the list has many points to consider, we can acknowledge that among them are the atmosphere evoked by the places, the hygiene, the service, the creativity, the trends, and the flavors unleashed by their creations.

Voters include Gastronomic Experts, Renowned Bartenders, Consultants, Food and Beverage Writers, Cocktail Specialists, and Foodie Travelers. It’s worth noting that there’s a 50/50 gender balance, and all these personalities operate confidentially. The global list was created in 2009, and in 2022, a new list was created that ranks and showcases the best of the North American beverage industry, where 15 bars from Mexico are ranked.

Among the most applied trends in bars in recent years is clarification, a technique in which dark or cloudy liquids achieve a clear, crystalline appearance. One of my personal favorites, due to its elegant appearance and surprising flavors. We also note that mocktails have gained significant popularity, creating a more inclusive experience for non-alcohol drinkers.

As for the atmospheres of the most prominent bars, we enjoyed a variety of settings, although the majority were dominated by dim lighting, fine glassware, the quality of the people who work there, and the shows they put on before our eyes. We are undoubtedly living in one of the peak moments for mixologists worldwide, and these creatives will surely continue to surprise and delight us.

Pourquoi Puerto Vallarta est si Populaire ?

0

Business leaders propose a Trans-Pacific Train

0

They say the project is not a dream and could run from Mazatlán to Acapulco, the most diverse natural tourism corridor with the greatest potential in Mexico.

As part of the Regional Global Tourism Forum, the Heart of the Pacific Promotion Commission, the CANACO SERVyTUR Bahía de Banderas y Compostela (Canaco of the Pacific) and the CANACOPE SERVyTUR Puerto Vallarta jointly presented the ambitious project “The Heart of the Pacific and the Trans-Pacific Train: Promoting the Tourism and Logistics Integration of Western Mexico,” an initiative that aims to integrate the coast and mountains through a strategic vision of territorial, tourism, and economic development.

During a press conference, Carlo Iván Gómez, Director General of both chambers and national advisor to CONCANACO SERVyTUR México, emphasized that this proposal “seeks to break the tourism fragmentation that has prevailed in the region, to build a corridor that combines the best of sun and sand with ecotourism, rural tourism, religious tourism, gastronomy, and cultural tourism, from a perspective of sustainability and multisectoral governance.”

GLOBAL PROJECTION

The first stage of the project contemplates the integration of the municipalities of Bahía de Banderas, Compostela, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes, San Sebastián del Oeste, Mascota, and Talpa de Allende, under the territorial brand “Heart of the Pacific, where the mountains embrace the sea,” positioning them as a unique region to live, enjoy, and grow.

One of the main themes will be the “Heart of the Pacific Caravan: Flavor, Culture, and Business on the Road,” an international tour that will visit key cities in the United States aboard a themed motorhome with chefs, promoters, artisans, and entrepreneurs from the seven municipalities. Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, and New York are the first confirmed stops, with one- to two-day cultural events per city. The route will then continue through Canada.

“We want to bring our culture, gastronomy, and talent abroad. This caravan is a model of tourism and commercial diplomacy that puts western Mexico on the international stage,” he emphasized.

COMMUNITY TOURISM

Another of the projects presented was “Charming Roots,” which seeks to revalue the ranches and rural communities of Nayarit and Jalisco with high tourism, natural, and cultural potential. A sustainable and community-based tourism model will be promoted in locations far from traditional centers.

In Bahía de Banderas, Aguamilpa, El Colomo, San Juan de Abajo, and Valle de Banderas stand out; while in Puerto Vallarta, the focus is on Las Palmas, El Ranchito, La Desembocada, El Colorado, and the deep rural areas of Ixtapa.

The creation of the Raíces con Encanto Tourism Distinction was also announced. The Raíces con Encanto Tourism Distinction will be awarded by the Jalisco and Nayarit Tourism Secretariats, in coordination with business chambers, to communities that stand out for their organization and commitment to sustainable tourism.

RAILWAY INTEGRATION

The third key component is the Mazatlán–Acapulco Pacific Tourist Train, which will serve as a backbone for regional connectivity and integration. The proposal goes beyond a means of transportation and is emerging as an instrument for territorial modernization, regional balance, and economic justice, with an impact on at least six states.

“The Trans-Pacific Train is a transformative project that combines ecological, cultural, and economic vision. It’s not a futuristic dream: it’s a strategic necessity for Mexico, and we are promoting it through private initiative with a technical foundation and political will,” he emphasized.

The project will be formally presented to federal authorities, with the goal of being considered within national infrastructure plans. Furthermore, an open call has been made for private investment and the decisive participation of all three levels of government—federal, state, and municipal—to make it a transformative reality for western Mexico.

ORGANIZATIONAL COACHING

Finally, the ISO 9001 Organizational Coaching Plan was presented, a program aimed at small and medium-sized businesses in the region, with the goal of supporting them for six months in the implementation of quality management systems in accordance with the international standard ISO 9001:2015.

This support seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement, professionalize processes, and strengthen the business competitiveness of the local commercial and tourism sector.

With this series of projects, CANACO Bahía de Banderas and Compostela, CANACOPE Puerto Vallarta, and CONCANACO SERVyTUR México are committed to an innovative territorial development model that integrates tourism, logistics, cultural identity, and economic growth, with a clear regional and international focus.

“The Heart of the Pacific is not just a brand, it’s a shared vision of the future. With institutional coordination, strategic investment, and community participation, this region can become the new tourism and logistics engine of western Mexico,” he concluded.

How to Save Money as a Tourist in Mexico ?

0

Saving money as a tourist in Mexico is totally doable, whether you are backpacking or just trying to stretch your budget. Here are some practical tips:

Accommodation

Stay in Hostels or Budget Hotels: Hostels are common in tourist areas and often offer private rooms at lower prices than hotels.

Is there Hostels in Puerto Vallarta for a great option for travelers! https://promovisionpv.com/is-there-hostels-in-puerto-vallarta-for-a-great-option-for-travelers/

Use Airbnb or Guesthouses: They can be cheaper and give you access to a kitchen.

Avoid Tourist Hotspots for Lodging: Staying a bit away from popular areas can cut costs significantly. You can walk a few blocks away from the ocean shore and find many small hotels.

Food & Drink

Eat Like a Local: Street food is not only cheap but delicious—think tacos, tamales, tortas, elotes.

Street Food is very numerous and varied in Puerto Vallarta and around the Bay of Banderas. https://promovisionpv.com/street-food-is-very-numerous-and-varied-in-puerto-vallarta-and-around-the-bay-of-banderas/

Avoid Tourist Restaurants: If there is a menu in English and no locals in sight, it is probably overpriced.

Shop at Local Markets: Great for snacks, fruit, and sometimes prepared meals.

Shopping for Grocery Shopping in Puerto Vallarta https://promovisionpv.com/shopping-for-grocery-shopping-in-puerto-vallarta/ places and locations

Drink Tap Water Carefully: Buy large jugs of purified water (garrafones) instead of small bottles. Some hostels offer free refills.

Can You Drink Puerto Vallarta Tap Water https://promovisionpv.com/can-you-drink-puerto-vallarta-tap-water/

Transportation

Use Public Transport: Buses and colectivos (shared vans, in Nayarit) are affordable and widely used.

Find your way around and Discover Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit. https://promovisionpv.com/how-you-can-go-around-and-discover-puerto-vallarta-and-riviera-nayarit/

Avoid Airport Taxis: Use authorized taxis or ride-share apps like DiDi, Uber (available in many cities), or InDrive.

Walk When Possible: Many Mexican cities and towns are walkable, especially in tourist areas.

Is Puerto Vallarta a walk-able city? Q & A https://promovisionpv.com/is-puerto-vallarta-a-walk-able-city-q-a/

Attractions & Activities

Look for Free Walking Tours: Many cities offer these (tip-based).

Visit Museums on Free Days: Some have one day a week with free entry (often Sundays).

PUERTO VALLARTA’S TOP ATTRACTIONS THINGS TO DO https://promovisionpv.com/puerto-vallartas-top-attractions-things-to-do/

Use Local Guides: Rather than booking expensive tours online, ask hostels or locals for recommendations.

Money Tips

Use ATMs Wisely: Withdraw cash from ATMs inside banks for safety and better rates. Avoid airport or hotel ATMs.

Avoid Currency Exchange at Airports: Their rates are usually poor.

ATM Rates & Fees

The best way to get pesos in Mexico for your trip is to use your debit card at an ATM. We recommend exchanging enough pesos from your home country before your trip to make it through your first day. Afterward, simply get cash from a local ATM to get the best exchange rate possible.

There are usually a TON of different ATMs right as you exit customs at international airports, which is why it really isn’t necessary to exchange money before you travel to Mexico. The prompts are in English and Spanish so they are easy to follow. Just remember to tell your bank back home that you’ll be traveling to Mexico so that they don’t try to block your card when you try to pull out pesos.

I do not suggest using any random ATM you find on the street, as you’ll probably end up paying high service fees to pull out cash. The best & lowest fee ATMs to withdraw pesos in Mexico are from well-known national banks such as:

  • BBVA Bancomer
  • Santander
  • Scotiabank (partnered with Bank of America)
  • Intercam
  • Banorte
  • Inbursa
  • CIBanco
  • Banco del Bajío

Carry Small Bills and Coins: Useful for public transport and street vendors who won’t have change for large notes.

Shopping

Haggle in Markets: Bargaining is expected in many tourist markets.

Avoid Buying Souvenirs in Major Tourist Zones: Same items are cheaper further from the main drag.

Connectivity

Buy a Local SIM Card: Providers like Telcel or AT&T México offer cheap data plans, much cheaper than roaming fees. Even with a 15$us you get some data and air time.
