L’origine de la boisson Margarita

0

Talavera’s roots can be traced back to the 16th century, when Spanish artisans brought their ceramic techniques to the city of Puebla. Over the years, these techniques merged with indigenous Mexican styles, resulting in the birth of Talavera pottery. While Puebla is the historical heartland of Talavera, Puerto Vallarta has become a flourishing center for this timeless craft. Over the years, local artisans have embraced the art form, infusing it with the region’s distinctive flavor and creativity. Today, the city proudly showcases a myriad of Talavera masterpieces that reflect both tradition and innovation.

Wander around Puerto Vallarta’s cobblestone streets and you’ll discover how Talavera has seamlessly integrated into the architecture. Colorful tiles adorn the facades of buildings, adding a touch of historic elegance to the city’s streets. Walking through the charming neighborhoods, one can’t help but marvel at the beautiful intersections of tradition and contemporary design.

Talavera tiles have been used in Poblano Mexican architecture to decorate kitchens, walkways, the interior of the homes, and exterior walls. Rediscovered in the Mission Style of architecture in the early 1900’s, Talavera tiles are again gaining popularity as design accents for today’s eclectic styles.

These Talavera ceramic tiles will greatly enhance any area of your home. We have incorporated these tiles and murals in our kitchen, bath, and pool areas in our home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Our tiles have a luster that is unmatched by the screen or stencil painted tiles commonly found. The vibrance of color and the detail of the hand painting make each tile its own work of art.

Chiles en nogada (chilies in a walnut sauce) are one of the few dishes in the Mexican and international cuisine that have a place and date of birth. In order to understand chiles en nogada, we must comprehend how and why their creation came to pass.

September is Chiles en Nogada Time
September is Chiles en Nogada Time

Let’s picture the scene: we have Agustín de Iturbide, regarded in that very moment as the savior and pacifier of the New Spain. He had just signed the independence of the Mexican Empire. He signed it with the last Spaniard Viceroy, Juan O’Donojú in the city of Córdoba on August 24, 1821. On his way to Mexico City, he stopped in Puebla right on his Saint’s Day, August 28.

The Augustine nuns of the Saint Monica convent were in charge of preparing the meals for the celebration. They wanted to regale the new hero with a unique creation. They took the fruits they had at hand at the moment: milky sweet pear, gala apple, criollo peach, walnut, pomegranate… and of course, poblano chili.

How come chiles en nogada have those colors?

Iturbide was riding in company of Vicente Guerrero and their Army of the Three Guarantees – religion, union and independence. Each one was present in the colors green, white and red of the new nation’s flag. Thus, the accommodating nuns decided these three colors should be present in his dish. So, the green of the chili, the white of the walnut sauce and the red of the pomegranate seeds came just handy.

And so it went, with the devotion to kitchen tasks characteristic of nuns and women of those years in general. They carefully measured, balanced, and mixed the ingredients to obtain a mestizo – baroque creation of Mexican gastronomy. Chiles en nogada were born! Nowadays, they are a true delicacy available only during the months of August and September.

Currently chiles en nogada have spread all over the country, especially on the central area. Weather is very much like that in Puebla. They can be tasted in slightly different versions, although of course the dwellers of Puebla reclaim as theirs the original recipe.

Do not miss the opportunity to visit Puerto Vallarta restaurants and order the traditional chiles en nogada! Remember, they will be available for limited time only!

World Oceans Day, as well as the Day of the Most Beautiful Bays, which is organized by Le Club des Plus Belles Baies du Monde, or The World’s Most Beautiful Bays Club. Bahía de Banderas proudly belongs to this club.

Based in Vannes, France, to this club belong only 42 bays, which a committee selects for the flora and fauna they possess, the natural attractions of the bay, the economic potential it generates, the importance of the city where it is located, and its historical heritage, to mention some aspects that the club evaluates to admit a bay. The club was created in 1997 and since then they have taken on the task of discovering the most beautiful coasts that nature has created, until becoming an international reference of the coastal space. https://world-bays.com/

NGO actively engaged in the United Nations processes and projects to protect oceans and seas and promote the sustainable use of marine resources.

The 38 bays are spread across 25 countries and four continents. Cartagena de Indias Bay (Colombia), Santander Bay (Spain), Mont Saint-Michel Bay (France), Saintes Bay (Guadalupe-France), and Setbal Bay (Portugal) are among them.

It is a true privilege to live in one of them, to enjoy the wonders that nature provides us on a daily basis, whether we go to the beach, take a walk along the Malecón, or even ride the bus and see a spectacular sunset.

A super curious fact is that Bahia de Banderas is the only bay in Mexico that belongs to the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World, this means that in addition to being privileged to be in one of the beautiful places in the world, we can also say that we belong to one of the most beautiful places in Mexico; in short, we belong to the elite of the elite.
