El Festival Internacional del Folklore Vallarta Azteca (FESTVA), reconocido como el festival folklórico más grande de México, celebrará su 19ª edición en Puerto Vallarta del 1 al 9 de mayo de 2025.

El Festival Vallarta Azteca (FESTVA) cuenta con la participación de grupos de baile folclórico proveniente de diversos estados de México, así como representantes de países de Centro y Sudamérica y Europa, quienes ofrecen presentaciones gratuitas en diversos foros de Puerto Vallarta, tales como Los Arcos del Malecón y el Teatro Vallarta.
La décimo octava edición del FESTVA se llevará a cabo del 28 de abril al 5 de mayo. La programación general y los grupos participantes se anunciarán muy pronto.
A lo largo de una semana, el FESTVA se encarga de difundir la danza folclórica en sedes de otros municipios de la región e incluso en otros estados aledaños. Su realización durante los primeros días del mes de mayo coincide, además, con el inicio de los festejos por el aniversario de Puerto Vallarta.

The Vallarta Azteca International Folklore Festival (FESTVA), recognized as the largest folklore festival in Mexico, will celebrate its 19th edition in Puerto Vallarta from May 2 to 9, 2025.

The Vallarta Azteca Festival (FESTVA) features folkloric dance groups from various Mexican states, as well as representatives from Central and South American countries and Europe, who offer free performances at various venues in Puerto Vallarta, such as Los Arcos del Malecón and the Teatro Vallarta.
The general program and participating groups will be announced soon.
Over the course of a week, FESTVA promotes folkloric dance at venues in other municipalities in the region and even in neighboring states. Its celebration during the first days of May also coincides with the start of the Puerto Vallarta anniversary celebrations.
Among the many reasons to visit this picturesque destination is the Vallarta Azteca Folk Dance Festival, a dazzling celebration of Mexican culture, tradition, and artistry through the medium of dance. From March 24th to 30th, more than 30 professional tennis players will compete in the second edition of the WTA 125 Puerto Vallarta Open, which has brought together leading figures in the sport, such as American Caroline Dolehide, finalist of the 2023 GDL Open AKRON (when she was a WTA 1000 player), and Australian Olivia Gadecki, the 2024 finalist of that tournament.
Also participating are Australian Daria Saville, who reached the semifinals at the 2025 Mérida Open AKRON, and her compatriot Maya Joint, who was a quarterfinalist there, as well as Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, champion of the 2023 WTA 125 San Luis Open, and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, winner of the 2021 Zapopan Open.
All of them are ranked in the top 100 of the WTA rankings and—due to their strong results in Mexico—are among the players to watch. The tournament, which is taking place this week on the hard courts of the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center, will award a prize pool of $125,000.
Gustavo Santoscoy García, tournament director, shared his satisfaction at being able to hold this second edition: “Last year, we arrived at a new venue for women’s tennis, and the response was magnificent. We are very grateful for the support of all the authorities and sponsors; their trust and support make our work easier.”
He also spoke about the characteristics that make Puerto Vallarta a perfect venue for playing tennis. As one of the most attractive beach destinations in the Mexican Pacific, tennis players and attendees look to arrive early or stay later. “It’s not just a tennis event; we have to work with the Ministry of Tourism to make it a social, cultural, and gastronomic event. Puerto Vallarta is one of the most important tourist destinations in the country, which adds a lot to a tennis tournament,” he admitted.
For his part, Gustavo Santoscoy Arriaga, president of GS Sports Management, expressed his confidence that this tournament will contribute to the destination’s continued consolidation within the world of sporting events: “Sports tourism enhances tourist destinations; when it comes to tennis, four- and five-star hotels and excellent services are in high demand, so the economic impact is greater than at many other events.”
In the first edition of the Puerto Vallarta Open WTA 125, American McCartney Kessler took the singles title, while Mexican Renata Zarazúa emerged victorious in doubles alongside Iryna Shymanovic.
After its second edition, this tournament promises to consolidate its position and continue to be part of the great lineup of permanent sporting events that Puerto Vallarta offers throughout the year as part of its countless tourist attractions.

New T-GO ride-hailing app arrives in Puerto Vallarta, offering fair prices
This Friday, the T-Go app launches in Puerto Vallarta. This new on-demand local ride-hailing platform promises to be the best option for Vallarta residents and tourists to navigate their daily lives.
To end the abusive monopoly of taxi drivers and InDrivers, whose fares have bordered on the selfish and irrational, T-GO, a startup from Jalisco, will offer private ride-hailing services via a mobile app at fair prices.
With the option to request a regular car, an SUV, or an extra-large vehicle, and prices based on distance and travel time, it will be a model that will also compete with giants like Uber and DiDi.
Meanwhile, InDriver drivers continue to abuse fares and raise prices at will. Furthermore, they operate without safety guarantees, as the Russian-origin platform is illegal.

Puerto Vallarta une baisse importante de la criminalité
Puerto Vallarta a connu une baisse remarquable de la criminalité, grâce aux mesures proactives de l’administration de Luis Munguía. Sous la direction de la Commission de sécurité publique, la ville a connu une diminution constante des taux de criminalité de novembre 2024 à février 2025, renforçant son engagement en matière de sécurité et d’ordre.

Selon les données officielles, les crimes tels que les vols de motos, de véhicules, d’entreprises, de maisons et de personnes ont considérablement diminué. En novembre 2024, 203 cas ont été signalés. En décembre, ce nombre est tombé à 87, suivi de 76 en janvier et de 66 en février. C’est une réduction impressionnante de 67 % en seulement quatre mois.
Le succès de ces efforts est dû en grande partie à l’intensification des opérations de sécurité. Les autorités ont mené 256 opérations, ciblant les motos illégales, imposant des tests d’alcoolémie et renforçant l’application générale de la loi. De plus, 99 véhicules et motos volés ont été récupérés et 886 personnes ont été arrêtées. Les forces de l’ordre ont également pris des mesures contre 1 615 motos pour diverses infractions.
