Llegaron las Ballenas en Puerto Vallarta

0

Humpback Whales in Puerto Vallarta

0

Humpback Whales in Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta records its first humpback whales’ sightings of the 2024 – 2025 season.

Like anyone getting ready to receive a special visitor, the landscapes of Puerto Vallarta are beautified before their arrival. The rainy season colors the Sierra Madre mountains’ slopes and leaves them shining in their green splendor. The rivers run abundant and crystal clear towards the sea, where the guests of honor begin to make an appearance.

Humpback Whales in Puerto Vallarta

Little by little, throughout the last days of November and the first days of December, the high jets of water expelled by their blowholes announce their arrival, leaving clouds of sea breeze floating in the air like fireworks celebrating their triumphant entry into the bay. The beloved humpback whales have finally arrived!

After a long migration from the icy waters north of the continent, these imposing cetaceans begin to splash the surface of the great Banderas Bay with their frolic, making it clear that large proportions are not at odds with play. Apparently, the temperate waters of the Mexican Pacific are their favorite playground.

In addition to spending the winter in warmer waters, their journey has another very special purpose. Humpback whales have chosen this spot of the planet to carry out their mating rituals and – almost a year later – have their offspring in this same place. With a little luck, it is possible to witness their amazing courtship dances, a race where the males go after the females at high speed, colliding with each other, competing for the honor of perpetuating the species.

Puerto Vallarta has several certified companies to observe them up close – such as Ecotours Vallarta, Wildlife Connection, Vallarta Adventures and Mike’s Fishing & Tours, among other tour operators – which have biologists and expert guides who explain a little about the fascinating world of whales and their behavior. In addition, their boats have hydrophones to listen to their enigmatic songs.

You can also witness sublime moments, such as the calves splashing around their mother, or when one of these colossal mammals rises out of the water to drop all its tonnage in what is believed to be a way of getting rid of some parasites. For those who are fortunate enough to witness it, it is an absolutely amazing spectacle that they will never forget.

After a while on the surface of the sea, the whales prepare to immerse by arching their bodies – hence they are known as humpbacks – saying goodbye to dive for a few minutes by showing their tail, whose white spots are unique to each specimen and identify them as if they were their fingerprint.

This unique natural spectacle lasts approximately 5 months – until the month of April – when the whales begin their return accompanied by their newborns on their first trip to the north, some of them carrying in their bellies the calves that they will give birth to on their next visit.

LGBTQ Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta’s LGBTQ culture is based in Zona Romántica, which offers a gay beach experience and businesses catering to the LGBTQ community. According to John Gottberg Anderson of The Bulletin, “a lot of the romance in Zona Romantica is of the gay and lesbian variety, as this subculture is widely accepted here”.

Puerto Vallarta, on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, is considered the gay capital of the country. There is a parade every year as well as a number of hotels, tours and bars that cater for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Mexico was the fifth country in North America and the 33rd worldwide to allow same-sex couples to marry nationwide. Only civil marriages are recognized by Mexican law, and all proceedings fall under state legislation.

LGBTQ Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

Mexico is one of the most welcoming and affirming destinations in the world. They have anti-discrimination policies, legal recognition of same-sex couples, same-sex adoption and marriage equality in some states.

Gay Friendly City Puerto Vallarta https://promovisionpv.com/gay-friendly-city-puerto-vallarta/

LGBTQ Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

Every union is totally unique and should be celebrated as such! LGBTQ+ couples, allies and wedding guests alike can all attest to having questions regarding same-sex wedding etiquette, and in the world of weddings where there are so many long-standing rules and traditions, we can understand why! Nuptials can be confusing enough going by the book.

So many gay couples choose to customize their ceremony beyond the traditions we knew before. If one party is being given away, this can be the deciding factor as to who goes first and waits on the other. Other options are that a person of mutual importance can escort you both down the aisle on each arm, or you can proceed hand-in-hand if no one is being given away.

Creating a Processional Order with Two Brides

Similar to creating a nontraditional wedding processional without a bride, a lesbian couple can also proceed together, whether escorted or alone, one can opt to go first, or two brides can even proceed toward each other from separate points, converging at the altar at once. Who says there has to be just one aisle? Depending on your ceremony set-up and where your guests’ seating will be, you can really get as creative or dramatic with processionals as you want!

LGBTQ Wedding in Puerto Vallarta

Weddings are one of the most rigidly traditional aspects of Western culture, so turning a wedding on a nontraditional head may seem like an uphill battle at times. Writing your own vows is one of the easiest ways to ensure that the words spoken on your big day are truly reflective of the love you and your partner share and the future you look to create together. We recommend customizing your gay marriage vows and ceremony readings even if you are not the one delivering them – which includes asking your wedding officiant to alter any traditional texts to be LGBTQ+ friendly, gender-neutral, or include religious-leaning aspects. We now pronounce you equally wed!

It is your day! You ultimately dictate what works best for your group, and that extends to giving your wedding party any label that resonates best with them. We’ve heard the use of everything from “bridesmen” to “groomswomen,” and we also love names like “best women,” “groomsmaids,” “men-of-honor” or genderless terms such as “attendants” or “party people.”

At the end of the day, your comfortability is most important, and letting your personality shine through is next on the list! Don’t feel pressured to wear something totally out of your comfort zone due to societal norms. Whether your vibe is menswear, bridal gowns or something ungendered altogether, there are local fashion options out there for you! Consider your tastes, your wedding’s theme and what your partner is choosing to wear for a completely cohesive wedding look.

Skipping out on a fair share of wedding traditions as we know them (and maybe even receiving backlash for doing so) may leave you and your partner feeling disheartened or invalidated about your nuptials. Whether you engage in a civil ceremony, elope away in the mountains, or tie the knot locally with additions that are totally “you,” just know that the love that brought you together is what matters above all. Keep what’s important to both of you central in things. If your same-sex wedding is celebrating the relationship and love you created at its core, then you’re doing it right! There is no wrong way to be wed – love is love!

Puerto Vallarta: A Sustainable Paradise

0

Nestled between the majesty of the Sierra Madre and the deep blue of the Pacific, Puerto Vallarta not only captivates with its idyllic landscapes, but has also become a model of sustainability in the tourism sector.

Puerto Vallarta hotels are at the forefront of sustainable practices. Some have adopted solar energy systems that significantly reduce their carbon footprint, while many others have implemented wastewater treatment plants, which are used to irrigate the resorts’ gardens, where you can appreciate native flora, carefully cultivated to attract pollinators and encourage local biodiversity.

The southern hotel zone of Puerto Vallarta – nestled where the Sierra Madre meets the sea – features a number of boutique hotels that promote sustainability, including Casitas Maraika, Verana, El Grullo Naturista, Hotelito Mío, Santuario Yelapa and Xinalani in Quimixto, which was recently recognized with 3 Michelin Keys for its unique accommodation proposal oriented towards meditation, yoga, conscious eating and, in general, disconnection from worldly distractions.

One of the most notable initiatives in the region is the conservation of sea turtles. Some hotels – such as Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, Hyatt Ziva and Hotel Rosita – organize activities where guests and locals come together to protect the nests and release the hatchlings, doing their part to prevent the extinction of these legendary reptiles and creating a sense of community. This experience not only leaves a mark on those who live it, but also gives visitors a deeper connection with their environment.

Another relevant aspect that distinguishes Puerto Vallarta is having Blue Flag certification on several of its beaches. The Blue Flag distinction is an international recognition that is awarded to beaches and marinas that reach standards of excellence in water quality, management and environmental education to sustainably preserve coasts, oceans and bodies of water, in addition to having strict verification and monitoring control of these.

In terms of construction and sustainable development, the new terminal 2 of the airport to be completed in 2026 is a two-story project that avoids the destruction of the jungle and uses technologies to take advantage of the environment, such as water care and treatment, as well as collecting rainwater to make the air conditioning system more efficient. The building will have Leed Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, for its acronym in English), one of the highest standards in green construction and alternative energy. By 2050, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport is expected to have Net Zero standards, that is, it is on track to reduce polluting emissions to zero.

On the other hand, at the International Tourism Fair held in Madrid, Spain in 2022, the Canopy River ecotourism project – from the El Jorullo ejido in Puerto Vallarta – received the Excellence Award in the Sustainability category, for its work in favor of the community through sustainable projects that give opportunities to future generations.

In addition to the above, Puerto Vallarta is one of the few tourist destinations worldwide that has a Protected Natural Area. The “El Salado” Estuary is located within the city and – like all mangroves – is of vital importance to the ecosystem, since the marine food chain begins there. 99 species of birds, 46 plants, 10 mammals and 29 amphibians and reptiles have been detected there, hence since 2000 it was declared a Protected Natural Area (ANP) under the category of ecological conservation zone. The Government of Jalisco, as part of its commitment to the conservation of natural areas, decreed in 2020 the expansion of the El Salado polygon, from 168 to 208.2 hectares.

Gastronomy has also taken a sustainable turn. Many restaurants within the hotels prioritize the use of local (kilometer zero) and seasonal ingredients, supporting farmers in the region and offering fresh and delicious dishes that reflect the cultural richness of Mexico. Thus, each bite becomes a celebration of the land and its products.

Puerto Vallarta stands as a destination where tourism and nature can coexist harmoniously. With its commitment to sustainability, it not only protects its natural environment, but also invites travelers to be part of this transformation, making each visit a conscious and memorable experience.

Puerto Vallarta: Un Paraíso Sustentable

0

Nayarit Wine Among Mexico’s Finest

0

For the second consecutive year, a Nayarit wine has been ranked among the top 99 wines in Mexico.

This recognition comes from CAVA Magazine, a publication dedicated to promoting the culture of Mexican wine, mezcal, and craft beer. Through a blind tasting, sommeliers evaluate wines from across the country, awarding prizes in various categories and compiling the list of the best 99.

Nayarit Wines some of the best in Mexico

This year, Meseta del Cielo, a Nayarit-based winery, earned two medals: a silver medal for its Syrah 2023 aged 12 months in barrels, and a bronze for its young wine, Gran Poeta. In 2023, the Syrah 2022 vintage also made the list, marking the second consecutive year that Nayarit wines have been recognized.

Does Nayarit Produce Wine?

Yes, Nayarit produces wine! Although this may come as a surprise, the Meseta del Cielo project began recently in 2019, with grapevines imported from Europe. After extensive cultivation trials, the Syrah and Marcebo varietals successfully adapted to the region’s ecosystem. By 2022, the first commercial batch of Nayarit wines was produced, earning immediate acclaim and positioning Meseta del Cielo as one of Mexico’s top wine producers.

Located in the Cofradía de Juanacatlán, Meseta del Cielo opened as a tourist destination in 2023. It has since become a must-visit spot in the Pueblo Mágico of Jala, offering wine tastings, guided tours, and vineyard visits.

To book your experience and savor these exquisite wines, contact (+52) 311 141 51 42. Opening hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Nayarit is home to premium wine and craft beer that perfectly complements its outstanding gastronomy. Come and discover this hidden gem!

Puerto Vallarta’s Idyllic Tropical Location

Puerto Vallarta is the vast tropical landscape and enormous Banderas Bay. Where evening sunsets are beyond stellar. And do not forget those mountains that surround the bay. They are truly unforgettable. You can visit popular areas such as Los Arcos Marine Park. It has to be one of my top group excursion suggestions. It is a literal paradise to visit. Inaccessible by land, you will head over by water taxi. Similarly, it’s so much fun when experiencing this tour together in a group.

The weather temperature is normally consistent year-round. The daily highs are usually around 86 F or 19 C. Now that is what I call great destination wedding weather! Of course, there are factors to consider for wedding couples. Such as the time of day you marry. The dryer times of the year usually work best for destination weddings. But because tropical rain can be short-lived during the day, summer weddings can also work out beautifully.

Booking certain times of the year can be overall more cost-effective for your group. May, June and November to mid-December. Which can often price well. You will have those beautiful sunny Puerto Vallarta days with less chance of storms or rain.

Many couples choose to book their destination wedding during the peak travel season, which is typically January through March. And there are so many great reasons why this is a great time to go as well. Including fabulous weather away from perhaps much colder weather!

Can have a legal wedding in Mexico. Yes, you certainly can. And your wedding coordinators will be happy to assist. You will have a bit of additional paperwork. In short, providing birth certificates, blood tests, and four witnesses will be required. But it is very workable and so romantic!

Puerto Vallarta has unique and beautiful wedding ceremony options. For a traditional Catholic chapel service, check out Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Puerto Vallarta.

What are Christmas Posadas in Mexico. Christmas Posadas are mostly used as families Christmas reunions or companies, enterprises as the staff Christmas Party.

History: Christmas posadas are now a deeply rooted tradition in Mexico. They are the result of the evangelization efforts of the Mesoamerican peoples during the Spanish conquest.

Along with the festivities dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe on December 12, posadas became key events in the religious fusion of Mesoamerican and Spanish cultures.

How did Christmas posadas come about?

They were originally conceived as a way to replace the celebrations dedicated to the god Huitzilopochtli. Another goal was to facilitate conversion to Catholicism. however, they evolved over time into celebrations that transcended the religious.

For the Mexicans, the Posadas were held during the month of Panquetzaliztli. In today’s calendar, it lasts from December 6th to the 26th. During these days of celebration the arrival of Huitzilopochtli, the God of the Sun and War, was awaited.

Likewise, from the night of December 24th to the 25th, people would gather to await the arrival of the winter solstice. They would share food with guests and offer small statues called “tzoatl”.

In 1587, a religious from the convent of San Agustín (State of Mexico) got permission from Pope Sixtus V to hold indoctrination ceremonies in New Spain.

Thus, the conquistadors took advantage of the coincidence between the dates of the Mexica and Catholic celebrations. They transformed the posadas into “aguinaldo masses”, so called because they were offered as a Christmas gift or “aguinaldo”.

When are Christmas Posadas Celebrated?

The posadas evolved over the centuries, moving from temples to haciendas and finally to homes and neighborhoods. They began to be held from December 16 to 24, marking a period of nine days before Christmas.

After Mexico’s independence, the custom of attending the “misas de aguinaldo” declined. It was rescued by faithful followers and transformed into the tradition of posadas. Over the years, they incorporated other festive elements such as piñatas and sparklers.
