Jalisco en las Ferias Internacional Turísticas. Será Jalisco referente internacional en las ferias turísticas más importantes del mundo en 2026

Con ITB Berlín y la primera edición de ITB Americas como ejes estratégicos, Jalisco llevará su oferta turística a las principales ferias internacionales, como FITUR Madrid, ANATO Bogotá, ITB Berlín, el Tianguis Turístico México en Acapulco y WTM London

La Secretaría de Turismo apostará en firmar nuevos acuerdos internacionales, diversificar mercados emisores y proyectar la identidad cultural del estado

Como un hecho que marca un hito para la industria turística continental, y que consolida al estado como anfitrión de uno de los foros más influyentes del mundo, tras 60 años, ITB Berlín (Internationale Tourismus-Börse), realizará la primera edición continental de ITB Americas, y Jalisco será sede por cinco años.

Se estima que, en 2026, la feria genere una derrama hotelera de 20 millones de pesos y una derrama turística de 240 millones de pesos, para fortalecer la proyección internacional de la entidad como destino líder en turismo y reuniones.

Para reafirmar la estrategia, el Estado promocionó su oferta turística en las ferias más importantes del mundo durante 2025, un ejercicio que repetirá este año con la visión de consolidar a Jalisco como referente internacional en materia turística.

La Secretaría de Turismo, encabezada por Michelle Fridman Hirsch, apuntaló al estado, en 2025, como un destino de referencia mundial mediante su participación en los principales foros del sector, como fue la participación en FITUR Madrid, donde presentó su riqueza cultural y turística en uno de los stands más concurridos de la feria.

Se lograron más de 190 citas de negocio con empresas de 14 países, además de convenios internacionales y la presentación de la política pública FILMA Jalisco.

Entre los principales logros destacó la confirmación de México como país socio de FITUR 2026 y la proyección de Guadalajara como sede del Mundial 2026.

La delegación jalisciense participó en la Vitrina Turística ANATO en Bogotá, el encuentro más importante del sector en Colombia y Sudamérica.

Ante más de 55 mil profesionales, se presentaron los principales productos de Jalisco para incrementar la llegada de visitantes colombianos, y fortalecer la competitividad mediante alianzas con agencias mayoristas, además de proyectarse hacia otros países de la región como Argentina, Brasil, Perú y Ecuador.

Jalisco llevó su oferta turística a la ITB Berlín, la feria de viajes más grande del mundo, con citas de negocio y actividades de networking que reunieron a más de 100 mil asistentes de 190 países, la delegación posicionó al estado como un destino imprescindible gracias a su infraestructura sólida, amplia conectividad y diversidad de atractivos, en el foro se contó con la participación de empresas líderes como Expedia, Booking.com y Google.

Jalisco desplegó su potencial en el Tianguis Turístico México 2025, celebrado en Rosarito y San Diego, un histórico encuentro binacional que fortaleció la conexión turística entre México y Estados Unidos, en el que la delegación tuvo reuniones con compradores de cinco continentes y aerolíneas internacionales.

Asimismo, se participó en eventos paralelos como Ventana a México y la Asamblea Asetur, donde el stand de Jalisco atrajo inversiones y proyectó destinos como Puerto Vallarta, Costalegre, Guadalajara y los 12 Pueblos Mágicos.

Jalisco fortaleció su presencia en Europa durante el World Travel Market London, con 121 citas de negocio con agencias mayoristas internacionales, el foro reunió a 5 mil expositores de 180 países y permitió reforzar vínculos con el mercado británico, principal emisor europeo hacia el estado, además de acordar acciones para ampliar rutas y campañas digitales.

En conjunto, dichas participaciones a lo largo del año permitieron a Jalisco cerrar acuerdos internacionales, diversificar mercados emisores y proyectar su identidad cultural, para plantarse como un destino líder en México y Latinoamérica con creciente presencia global.

Estuary El Salado Puerto Vallarta ‘s Great Green Lung. Puerto Vallarta is one of the few tourist destinations worldwide with a Protected Natural Area.

Amidst the urban dynamism and vibrant life of Puerto Vallarta, there is a natural sanctuary that breathes to the rhythm of the city and, at the same time, protects it. The El Salado Estuary is a unique environmental treasure in Mexico, declared the only protected urban mangrove ecosystem in all of Latin America, demonstrating that nature and the city can coexist in harmony.

Like all mangroves, the El Salado Estuary is vital to the environment, as it is where the marine food chain begins. Furthermore, it is home to astonishing biodiversity; 99 species of birds, 46 of plants, 10 of mammals, and 29 of amphibians and reptiles have been identified there, as well as diverse species of fish and crustaceans that find refuge and food here.

Additionally, this mangrove plays a fundamental role in the environmental health of the destination. Its intertwined roots act as a natural barrier against flooding, help mitigate the effects of storms, and filter the water before it reaches the sea. Thanks to this, El Salado contributes directly to the protection of the beaches and the conservation of Banderas Bay.

This natural wealth makes El Salado a living classroom, ideal for environmental education, scientific research, and responsible nature tourism.

The El Salado Estuary also plays a key role in regulating the local climate. The mangrove vegetation helps capture carbon, cools the urban environment, and improves air quality, contributing to the well-being of both residents and visitors. Its presence serves as a reminder of the importance of conserving natural ecosystems, even in highly developed areas.

Therefore, in 2000, it was declared a Natural Protected Area (NPA) under the category of ecological conservation zone. The Government of Jalisco, as part of its commitment to the conservation of natural areas, decreed in 2020 the expansion of the El Salado protected area from 168 to 208.2 hectares.

Puerto Vallarta has in El Salado an example of sustainability and commitment to the environment. Protecting this estuary is not only about preserving a unique ecosystem, but also about safeguarding the natural identity of the destination and its future. Puerto Vallata Macaw Sanctuary. A True Natural Sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta. In the heart of the Sierra Madre lies one of the destination’s best-kept secrets: the Macaw Sanctuary.

To talk about the Macaw Sanctuary, we must first tell the story of Francisco Espino Ibarra. As a child, Francisco first visited the place where the sanctuary is located today, but back then it was quite the opposite. That area of the Las Juntas and Los Veranos ejido filled him with profound sadness; hundreds, perhaps thousands, of felled trees gave the place an air of desolation.

The timber resources were being overexploited by locals and outsiders alike. The turning point came when Francisco saw a tree with a macaw nest that had been cut down without any consideration. Of course, there were no birds left alive inside. It was then that he decided to become its guardian.

As a descendant of one of the founding members of the ejido (communal land), he petitioned the assembly for the land to build a cabin and care for it. Thus, in 2006, the Macaw Sanctuary was born, a space dedicated to the conservation of the Mexican green macaw (Ara militaris) in its natural habitat.

Since then, Francisco and his sons, Jesús Adrián and Jorge Yamil, have dedicated their lives to this noble work. They climb to the tops of the trees to place wooden nests they build themselves to facilitate the species’ reproduction. They also place metal sheets around the tree trunks to prevent the region’s large felines—such as ocelots and pumas—from climbing and preying on the nests.

To better study the macaws’ habits and the hunting techniques of predators, they place cameras hidden in small cages that are activated by movement. Thus, they discovered that the collared forest hawk could enter the nests to plunder them, so they reduced the size of the entrance hole, successfully preventing this from happening.

Today, their efforts are paying off. In the wild, green macaw chicks have an average survival rate of only 16%; within the sanctuary, that percentage rose to almost 50% in 2024, when 14 chicks successfully fledged. This year there are 29 chicks in 19 nests, so the survival rate could be surpassed compared to last year.

Their work is sustained by contributions from visitors and the support of benefactors interested in sponsoring the sanctuary. One of the best ways to visit is with Authentik Tours, one of the tour companies that operates in support of the sanctuary. This agency promotes positive impact tourism. In addition to observing the macaws from a distance without invading their space and with the utmost discretion so as not to disturb them, they are responsible for providing valuable information that raises awareness throughout the tour.

Dr. Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus—Doctor Honoris Causa and Professor Emeritus of the University Center of the Coast, who throughout his life championed important projects for the conservation of species in the region—used to say that “what is known, is valued; and what is valued, is protected.”

When visiting the sanctuary, one can learn amazing facts, such as that macaws are monogamous; that is, they choose a mate for life, and if that mate dies, they do not mate again for years. They form a home with the love of their life, living as a family with their offspring until they reach reproductive maturity (generally two to four years). Another similarity with us is their lifespan, which averages sixty to one hundred years.

To date, this species remains endangered due to illegal trafficking and habitat loss, making the work of Francisco and his family invaluable. They not only protect the macaws but the entire ecosystem; with the help of volunteers, they have planted 11,500 pine trees in the last two years to reforest the area.

The Macaw Sanctuary is a true haven of peace. In its vicinity, the only sound is the powerful squawking of the macaws. When they are silent, the place falls into absolute stillness, conveying an unparalleled sense of calm and tranquility; an encounter with oneself and with nature in its purest form.

Once again, Puerto Vallarta and its people demonstrate a deep commitment to environmental sustainability, recognizing the value of all that coexists in the destination and joining forces to rescue and protect its greatest treasure: biodiversity.

For nearly ten unforgettable minutes, the sky was alive with color, sound, and excitement. Adding to the magic, this year also featured a drone show, blending modern technology with classic fireworks to create glowing patterns and shapes dancing above the bay.
