The state of Jalisco has 125 municipalities, dozens of cities, hundreds of medium population centers, and thousands of small towns. Of this multitude of human settlements, less than ten reach the category of Magical Town for its cultural offer and its beauty.

To achieve the category of Magical Town, which consists of being part of a stimulus program developed by the Federal Secretariat of Tourism in 2001 that seeks to revalue a group of populations in the country that have always been in the collective imagination of the nation and that represent fresh and different alternatives for visitors from all over the world.

In Jalisco, Mazamitla, San Sebastián del Oeste, Tapalpa, Tequila, Lagos de Moreno, Tlaquepaque, Mascota, Talpa de Allende and Ajijic fall into this category and each one of them has its special charm.

Tequila

Mexico Ministry of Tourism has released the list of the 45 new Magical Towns that join the program. And Nayarit has five new destinations. Know which ones they are!

Today there are already 177 destinations that have the name of Magical Town. Blue Flag is part of the programs developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Denmark-based organization operating from 1981, through a network of national organizations nonprofits spanning more than 73 countries.

The Program has the support and validation of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations Environment Program Environment (UNEP), the Council of Associations of the Marine Industry (ICOMIA), the Federation International Lifesaving Agency (ILS) and Agency European Environment (EEA).In September 2017 and once a international selection process, the assembly of the FEE chose FEE Mexico as the organization responsible for implementing the 4 programs international Blue Flag, Green Key, Eco-Schools and LEAF.
