Puerto Vallarta consolidates itself as a Gastronomic Destination

The destination has around 40 cuisines from around the world and 2,000 restaurants in its metropolitan area.

Puerto Vallarta has a long culinary history that dates back to the arrival of great European chefs such as Thierry Blouet, Heinz Reize, Bernhard Güth, Roland Menetrey and Ulf Henriksson, who opened the first haute cuisine restaurants in the city.

This marked the gastronomic scene of Puerto Vallarta, inspiring and encouraging local chefs to implement high standards of quality and constant innovation in their culinary creations.

Today, Puerto Vallarta’s gastronomic offering is an important part of the sum of elements that attract visitors to the destination. In addition to its beautiful beaches and natural settings, extensive variety of activities and its typical Mexican town charm, the green pearl of the Mexican Pacific offers gastronomic experiences of the highest level.

This has led the destination to become a benchmark for haute cuisine in America. It is not surprising that Puerto Vallarta restaurants are awarded national and international recognitions, such as the Best Consolidated Restaurant in Mexico that Café Des Artistes received in 2023 at the Food and Travel Awards, the same category in which the Trio restaurant was nominated in 2024.

For its part, the Gaviotas restaurant -at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center hotel-, decorated with 4-diamond certification from the AAA, won the award for Best Haute Cuisine Hotel Restaurant in Latin America at the fifth annual edition of the World Culinary Awards.

In turn, the A Mar y Sierra restaurant was recognized with the Diner’s Choice Awards 2025, awarded by the OpenTable site according to the vote that diners cast to choose the winners and, for the fifth consecutive year, the ICÚ restaurant was selected to appear in the Mexico Gastronomic Guide 2025, which lists the 250 best restaurants in the country.

These achievements are a reflection of the passion, professionalism and dedication with which the chefs and restaurants of Puerto Vallarta work day by day to offer gastronomic experiences of the highest level, worthy of being remembered.

Likewise, the destination stands out for being the host of important culinary events such as the International Gourmet Festival, which since 1995 brings together renowned chefs and winemakers to share their flavor and knowledge with attendees.

This year will be the 30th anniversary of the festival –from November 13 to 23-, so it promises to be an extraordinary edition with 30 restaurants presenting exclusive menus from their guest chefs, more than 60 chefs on stage to delight the palates of diners, 15 exclusive events with unique culinary experiences and 20 wineries showcasing the best of national and international wines.

Vous pouvez vous rendre à Boca de Tomatlan en prenant un autobus local depuis la Zona Romantica.
Situé à Basilio Badillo et Constitution (Zone romantique) Parfois, l’autobus est étiqueté « Boca de Tomatlan », mais le plus souvent, c’est l’autobus étiqueté « Mismaloya ». (Mismaloya est à quelques arrêts avant Boca de Tomatlan si vous vous dirigez vers le sud). Il faut environ 40 minutes en autobus et c’est de loin le moyen le moins cher de s’y rendre (~10 pesos).

Conseil de pro : Boca de Tomatlan est une ville cool qui vaut la peine d’être explorée pendant une heure ou deux.

La plage de Colomitos est accessible en bateau-taxi ou par un sentier pédestre. Le bateau-taxi arrive à Boca de Tomatlan et le tarif comprend le transport aller-retour. Le sentier de randonnée dure 30 ou 45 minutes de durée modérée, selon votre niveau de forme physique, et commence également à Boca do Tomatlan.

Oui, il existe un sentier de randonnée de difficulté facile à modérée menant à Colomitos depuis Boca de Tomatlan. Le même sentier continue au-delà de Colomitos jusqu’à Playa Las Animas.

Oui. Il y a un restaurant. Le Ocean Grill Vallarta n’est accessible que par bateau ou par sentier pédestre. Les réservations sont obligatoires pour la plupart des repas, car c’est un petit endroit avec des places assises limitées.

Circo de Los Niños est un organisme sans but lucratif voué au développement des enfants à travers les arts du cirque modernes. Notre organisation offre une expérience merveilleuse et unique aux enfants et aux jeunes adultes de la région de Bahía de Banderas avec un programme accessible, sécurisé et de haute qualité qui leur fait découvrir le monde des arts du cirque. Notre programme se concentre non seulement sur la formation, mais aussi sur le développement personnel et social de chaque enfant.

En 2011, le cofondateur et directeur de création du Cirque Du Soleil, Gilles Ste-Croix, et son épouse Monique Voyer ont donné vie à la création d’un spectacle avec les enfants du centre communautaire « Entreamigos » à San Francisco Nayarit dans le but d’amasser des fonds pour ses programmes. Cela a été rendu possible grâce au soutien du Circo del Mundo du Cirque du Soleil qui a fait don du matériel d’entraînement, d’amis et d’artistes internationaux venus du Canada, de la compagnie Cirkus Cirkus ainsi que de plus de 100 bénévoles locaux. En mars 2011, la première représentation du Circo de los Niños était « Cuando aún no existían los sueños ».

À la suite de cette première création du projet, Gilles Ste-Croix et Monique Voyer ont élargi leur soutien au Circo de los Niños en tant que projet Circo Social offrant une formation continue aux enfants initialement impliqués. Cette première impulsion a donné naissance à ce qui est aujourd’hui l’école des arts du cirque, appelée Circo de los Niños de San Pancho.

Au printemps 2014, fruit de 24 mois de formation et de concentration intense, une nouvelle production de 90 minutes intitulée « ORALE » a été créée et présentée à un plus large public. Sponsorisées et dirigées par ses fondateurs avec le soutien continu des équipements de formation et de production donnés par le Cirque du Soleil et Solotech, les collaborations du Cirque des Niños ont réuni plus de 100 bénévoles locaux et familles des participants. Lors de cette présentation, qui a eu lieu sur la Plaza del Sol de la ville devant plus de 800 spectateurs, les 60 jeunes étudiants ont été les vedettes de la soirée. Par la suite, le spectacle a été invité à être présenté au Mayan Palace de Puerto Vallarta, ce qui a permis une fois de plus d’amasser des fonds pour « Entre Amigos ».

La représentation à « Orale » a donné aux étudiants l’occasion d’expérimenter de près le processus créatif et technique d’une production, y compris la mise en scène, la chorégraphie, la conception et les aspects techniques. Une expérience unique et précieuse pour plusieurs, en particulier pour cette ville et sa communauté qui continuent d’être inspirées et investies dans les arts pour la communauté.

À l’été 2014, le projet a demandé l’autorisation du gouvernement de Nayarit pour utiliser l’un des entrepôts précédemment abandonnés de la ville. Depuis son installation originale à l’intérieur d’Entreamigos en 2011, le programme a dépassé son espace. Après avoir reçu l’autorisation de l’État et une rénovation de base d’un ancien entrepôt agro-industriel, la nouvelle Bodega Circo est devenue le siège du Circo de los Niños de San Pancho en 2014. De nouveaux instructeurs originaires du Mexique sont venus se joindre à l’équipe et le programme a été repensé et mis en œuvre. Au premier cycle du nouvel espace, le programme a accueilli 67 étudiants. Encore une fois, merci au généreux don de Gilles St. Croix, de Monique Voyer et des donateurs privés qui ont rendu cette transition possible.

Une fois dans son nouvel espace, le programme a complété ses deux premiers cycles avec une nouvelle production « Dar a Luz » qui a été créée et présentée dans le même espace. La nouvelle production « Give Light » raconte l’histoire du projet – la naissance d’une idée qui pendant des années était un rêve et qui dans notre nouvel espace s’est matérialisée en réalité ! Ce spectacle comprenait plus de 70 jeunes artistes participant au processus de formation et de création.

Actuellement, plus de 140 enfants sont inscrits aux programmes du Cirque des Enfants. Récemment, la nouvelle Bodega Danza (adjacente à l’espace de cours Circo) a été inaugurée comme un autre espace de représentation et de formation offert à la communauté locale et aux visiteurs. En plus d’obtenir un espace pour son école, le Cirque des Enfants gère un centre culturel, ouvert aux propositions d’artistes individuels et de groupes intéressés à participer au projet.

Encourager le développement holistique des jeunes et des jeunes adultes en améliorant leurs compétences artistiques, créatives, motrices et de communication, ainsi qu’en renforçant leur confiance dans la prise de risques dans un environnement sécuritaire et sécuritaire. Le Cirque des Niños de San Pancho offre un programme de qualité en enseignement des arts du cirque axé sur l’autonomisation au niveau humain.

Circo de Los Niños is a non-profit organization dedicated to children’s development through modern circus arts. Our organization offers a wonderful and unique experience to children and young adults in the Bahía de Banderas area with an accessible, secure and high quality program that introduces them to the world of circus arts. Our program not only focuses on training, but also on the personal and social development of each child.

In 2011, the co-founder of Cirque Du Soleil y Creative Director, Gilles Ste-Croix and his wife Monique Voyer gave light to the creation of a show with the children of the community center “Entreamigos” in San Francisco Nayarit with the intention to fundraise for its programs. This was made possible with the support of Circo del Mundo de Cirque du Soleil who donated the equipment training equipment, friends and international artists who came from Canada, the company Cirkus Cirkus as well as over 100 local volunteers. In March 2011, the first performance of Circo de los Niños was “Cuando aún no existían los sueños”.

As a result of this first creation of the project, Gilles Ste-Croix and Monique Voyer expanded their support for Circo de los Niños as a Circo Social project offering continued training to the children originally involved. This first impulse grew to become what is now the Circus Arts school, called Circo de los Niños de San Pancho.

In the spring of 2014, as a result of 24 months of training and intence focus, a new 90 minutes production titled “ORALE” was created and presented for a larger public. Sponsored and directed by its founders with the continued support of donated training and production equipment from Cirque du Solei and Solotech, the colaborations of Circo de los Niños united more than 100 local volunteers and families of the participants. In this presentation, which took place in the town´s Plaza del Sol with over 800 audience members, the 60 young students were the stars of the night. Thereafter, the show was invited to present at the Mayan Palace in Puerto Vallarta which helped once again to raise money for “Entre Amigos”.

Performing in “Orale” gave the students the opportunity to closely experience the creative and technical process of a production, including direction, choreography, design and technical aspects . A unique and valuable experience for many, especially for this town and its community who continue to be inspired and be invested in the arts for the community.

In the summer of 2014, the project solicited permission from Nayarit Government to use one of the previously abandoned warehouses in the town. Since the original location inside “Entreamigos” in 2011, the program has outgrown its space. After receiving permission from the state and a basic remodel of an old agro-industrial warehouse, the new Bodega Circo became the home of Circo de los Niños de San Pancho in 2014. New instructors native to Mexico came to join the team and the program was redesigned and implemented. In the first cycle at the new space, the program enrolled 67 students. Again, thanks to the generous donation of Gilles St. Croix, Monique Voyer and private donors who made this transition possible.

Once inside its new space, the program completed its first two cycles with a new production “Dar a Luz” which was created and performed within the same space. The new production “Give Light” tells the history of the project- the birth of an idea which for years was a dream and in our new space has materialized to reality! This show included over 70 young artists participating in the training and creative process.

Currently, more than 140 children are enrolled in Circo de los Niños programs. Recently, the new Bodega Danza (adjacent to the Circo class space) was inaugurated as yet another performance and training space offered to the local and visiting community. Apart from obtaining space for its school, Circo de los Niños operates a cultural center, open to proposals from individual performers and groups with interest in participating in the project.

Encourage the holistic development of youth and young adults by improving their artistic, creative, motor and communication skills, as well as strengthening their confidence in taking risks in a secure and safe environment. Circo de los Niños de San Pancho offers a quality program in Circus Arts instruction focused on empowerment at the human level.

Circo de los Niños aspires to be an artistic, mulitidisciplinary and sustainable organization and venue within the Banderas Bay region which offers quality cultural experiences for those participating in its program as well as the general public attending its shows and events.

Puerto Vallarta promueve su oferta para el Turismo de Reuniones

Del 18 al 20 de febrero, representantes del destino se reunieron con meeting planners y asociaciones de CDMX.

Como parte de las acciones estratégicas del Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística con el objetivo de seguir promoviendo a Puerto Vallarta ante la industria de reuniones de nuestro país, su Dirección de Grupos y Convenciones –acompañada por representantes de la hotelería, DMCs y tour operadores del destino- visitó Ciudad de México para prospectar oportunidades de negocio con importantes organizadores de eventos y asociaciones de la capital del país.

Durante estos encuentros, se promovió la realización de congresos, convenciones, expos, viajes de incentivo, integraciones de equipos (team buildings), lanzamientos de productos y eventos deportivos en Puerto Vallarta, dándoles a conocer las ventajas competitivas del destino, entre ellas su seguridad, una mayor convocatoria en comparación a otras ciudades y la amplia red de profesionales que garantizan eventos exitosos.

Además de la Dirección de Grupos y Convenciones del Fideicomiso de Turismo de Puerto Vallarta, los equipos de promoción estuvieron conformados por los hoteles Buenaventura, Barceló, Canto del Sol, City Express Plus, Crown Paradise, Dreams, Fiesta Americana, Friendly Fun, Grand Miramar, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Hyatt Ziva, Krystal, Marriott, Mío, Secrets, Sheraton Buganvilias, The Westin, Vamar, Velas y Villa Premiere, los DMCs Tropical Incentives y VTA, el tour operador Vallarta Adventures, el Centro Internacional de Convenciones y la agencia de representación del destino, PTG (Preferred Travel Group).

Laura Suárez, directora de Grupos y Convenciones del Fideicomiso de Turismo de Puerto Vallarta, resaltó la importancia de estos esfuerzos: “Al visitar a los organizadores de eventos y asociaciones, se generan vínculos directos que permiten estar en su top of mind, ofreciéndoles una serie de opciones y apoyos para facilitar la realización de eventos de toda índole en nuestro destino”.

Durante las jornadas de trabajo en Ciudad de México, se concretaron 60 citas de negocios con meeting planners y 13 asociaciones de la capital del país, en las que se destacaron las novedades en el destino, instalaciones en hoteles para grupos y experiencias que pueden disfrutar durante su estancia, así como apoyos para los congresos, convenciones y eventos que se realicen en Puerto Vallarta.

También se destacó la conectividad con 57 destinos nacionales e internacionales a través de 24 aerolíneas que transportaron casi 7 millones de pasajeros al destino en 2025, la ampliación del Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Vallarta con la construcción de una nueva terminal aérea internacional y el nuevo tramo de la autopista Guadalajara – Puerto Vallarta, con el que se reduce el tiempo de traslado a 3 horas.

Con estas acciones, Puerto Vallarta incentivó el interés por realizar eventos en el destino en las diversas agencias y asociaciones visitadas, generando múltiples oportunidades de negocio y perfilándose así para continuar siendo líder nacional en turismo de reuniones.

For the twelfth time, Puerto Vallarta is preparing to welcome visitors in 2025 at the region’s most prominent LGBTQ+ event: Vallarta Pride! Many of our activities are free and non-profit, reflecting the inclusive spirit of this city, recognized worldwide as an authentic LGBTQ+ destination that attracts national and international travelers. Here, a sophisticated culture combines with a vibrant and constantly evolving local community.

This year, Vallarta Pride 2025 will take the experience to an extraordinary level, with internationally renowned talent and epic events that will set trends. We want to offer captivating and unforgettable experiences with influential artists who are an essential part of the celebration, thus reaffirming Puerto Vallarta as the preferred LGBTQ+ destination in all of Latin America.

Diversidad y Derechos Humanos para Servidores Públicos en Puerto Vallarta

Este lunes, en la Sala de Cabildo del H. Ayuntamiento de Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, se llevó a cabo la sesión de la Comisión Edilicia Permanente de Igualdad Sustantiva y Diversidades, en la que se aprobó una propuesta para fortalecer la inclusión y el respeto a los derechos humanos en la administración pública municipal.

En el marco de la sesión, se autorizó la capacitación a servidores públicos del municipio en materia de derechos humanos, diversidad sexual y equidad de género. Esta iniciativa busca garantizar que las instituciones municipales brinden una atención más inclusiva y respetuosa, contribuyendo a la construcción de un entorno libre de discriminación.

La aprobación de esta capacitación representa un paso significativo en el compromiso con la igualdad y la sensibilización del personal gubernamental.

Asimismo, se presentó una reseña sobre la creación de la Jefatura de la Diversidad, una estrategia encaminada a institucionalizar acciones que garanticen el acceso a servicios y derechos en igualdad de condiciones para la comunidad LGBTIQ+, que fue impulsada por colectivos como MOVii y la Red Diversidad Vallarta.

Como parte del orden del día, se contó con la participación de la activista social Kenya Cuevas Fuentes, quien dirigió un mensaje sobre la importancia de la inclusión en las políticas públicas y la necesidad de continuar generando espacios de trabajo interinstitucional que promuevan el respeto a la diversidad y la no discriminación.

La sesión reafirmó el compromiso de la Comisión Edilicia con el impulso de políticas públicas que fomenten la igualdad sustantiva, la equidad y el reconocimiento de los derechos de todas las personas. Con estas acciones, Puerto Vallarta avanza hacia un modelo de gobernanza más incluyente, en el que la diversidad sea un pilar fundamental para la construcción de una sociedad más justa y equitativa.
