From massive building-sized murals to tucked-away artistic surprises, the city’s street art scene is a powerful reflection of Mexico’s rich heritage and modern expression.
As you explore neighborhoods like the Romantic Zone and beyond, you’ll find walls brought to life with striking imagery—vivid animals, spiritual figures, and deeply symbolic faces. Many of these murals draw inspiration from indigenous traditions, blending nature, mythology, and identity into unforgettable visual narratives.

Some pieces feature dreamlike compositions—human figures intertwined with animals, representing a deep connection to the natural world. Others burst with energy through abstract shapes and electric colors, capturing the rhythm and vibrancy of daily life in Vallarta.
You will also notice how the textures of the city itself become part of the artwork. Weathered walls, colonial architecture, and even entire buildings are transformed into canvases, creating a dynamic fusion of old and new.

Easter Time is (Semana Santa) Puerto Vallarta.Holy Week 2026 will be celebrated from March 29 to April 5 , beginning with Palm Sunday and concluding with Easter Sunday.
Although the most important days are from March 27 to April 13, the SEP school calendar grants two weeks of vacation for students. Why is this? Here we explain, along with the key dates of Holy Week, the days that workers are allowed to rest according to law, and the importance of each religious holiday.

Easter Time is (Semana Santa) Puerto Vallarta
Holy Week is a Christian religious celebration that commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In 2025, it will take place on the following dates:
Easter Time is (Semana Santa) Puerto Vallarta
Holy days of Holy Week 2026: Palm Sunday: March 29 Holy Thursday: April 2 Good Friday: April 3 Holy Saturday: April 4 Easter Sunday: April 5
Why are there two weeks of vacation if Holy Week lasts only one?
Easter Time is (Semana Santa) Puerto Vallarta
The 2025-2026 school calendar published by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) establishes a vacation period from Monday, April 1 to Friday, April 9, 2025, which grants two full weeks of rest for elementary school students in Mexico. Why is this?
The SEP seeks to facilitate family planning and domestic tourism, which is why it is customary to extend the vacation period to one week before and one week after the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). This not only serves religious purposes, but also economic and logistical ones, allowing families to make better use of their days off.
Easter Time is (Semana Santa) Puerto Vallarta
Brief Description of the Holy Days
Below, we briefly explain what each of the most important days of Holy Week represents:
Palm Sunday ( March 29)
Marks the beginning of Holy Week. It commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where he was welcomed with palm branches. In Mexico, palms are blessed in churches as a symbol of faith and protection.
Holy Thursday (April 2):
Recalls Jesus’ Last Supper with his apostles, where he instituted the Eucharist. The washing of feet is also celebrated as a symbol of humility and service.
Good Friday (April 3):
This is one of the most solemn days. It commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Many communities in Mexico hold Stations of the Cross processions.
Day of mourning and anticipation of the Resurrection. In ancient times, it was celebrated with the traditional “burning of Judas” and cold baths, although many of these practices have been reduced or regulated.
Easter Sunday (April 5):
Also called Easter Sunday, it is the central celebration of Christianity: the resurrection of Jesus. It represents the triumph over death and sin.

Downhill Puerto Vallarta Returns Stronger Than Ever. The competition will bring together top athletes in this sport from around the world before an estimated audience of 20,000 spectators. With the aim of solidifying Puerto Vallarta’s position as an international benchmark and strengthening its standing in adventure tourism, the Government of Jalisco, through the Ministry of Tourism, announced the 2026 edition of Downhill Puerto Vallarta, which will take place on May 1st and 2nd.
Downhill Puerto Vallarta
Downhill biking is an extreme form of mountain biking (MTB) focused on descending technical, steep, and rocky terrain in the shortest possible time. It’s pure adrenaline, characterized by speed, big jumps, and natural or artificial obstacles, and is considered the “Formula 1” of MTB.
The historic center of Puerto Vallarta is a spectacular and ideal setting for this sport due to its steep slopes that begin high in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains—which surround the city—and culminate on its boardwalk.
Downhill Puerto Vallarta
The competition will bring together the elite of mountain biking on an urban circuit that combines speed and acrobatics, with a course that winds through alleyways, staircases, and iconic landmarks of the destination.
The exhilarating course was designed by world-class specialists such as Ollie Wilkins, Christian Fairclough, and Liam Mason, who bring experience from high-level international events.
Downhill Puerto Vallarta
With an estimated attendance of 20,000 spectators, the event will showcase the best of downhill and freestyle mountain biking in one of Mexico’s premier destinations. This edition returns with a greater number of international competitors, who will arrive from various countries to headline one of the most anticipated events of the year.
The participation of figures such as Rémy Métailler, Kilian Bron, Jhony Salido, and Bienvenido Aguado has been confirmed. Activities will begin on May 1st with practice and course familiarization, while the main competition will take place on May 2nd, followed by the Best Trick contest.
Downhill Puerto Vallarta
The event boasts extensive international media coverage through partnerships with networks such as ESPN, Fox, Disney+, National Geographic, Televisa, and TV Azteca, as well as the support of global brands, amplifying its reach and visibility.
Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretary of Tourism for Jalisco, emphasized that these types of events are part of a comprehensive strategy to attract visitors, boost the economy, and project the destination globally.
Downhill Puerto Vallarta
She highlighted that 2026 will be a key year, with a robust agenda that includes dozens of international activities across various sectors.
She added that these initiatives generate direct benefits by stimulating sectors such as lodging, gastronomy, and transportation, while simultaneously strengthening the destination’s image and consolidating its presence in international markets.
Downhill Puerto Vallarta
Ernesto Rivas Butcher, President of Sabino Producciones, noted that the return of this competition marks a milestone, as it is a format that integrates two disciplines with their own distinct identities: a speed race from high ground to the Malecón (boardwalk) and an acrobatic ramp exhibition, both with separate prizes.
He indicated that it is an invitation-only event that brings together 40 competitors from more than ten countries, reflecting its global relevance and its ability to attract participants.
He emphasized that the competition involves the local community, transforms the city into a sporting venue, and generates a positive impact on tourism.
With this edition, Puerto Vallarta reinforces its reputation as a destination for high-level experiences, while Jalisco consolidates its strategy of attracting major events as an engine for development, international promotion, and strengthening domestic tourism.
