Puerto Vallarta—in conjunction with the Jalisco Ministry of Tourism—had a successful participation in the Mexico 2025 Tourism Fair. This business forum, based on pre-arranged meetings between exhibitors and potential buyers, helped the destination develop strategies and alliances to ensure a strong influx of visitors, hotel occupancy, and economic growth for the remainder of the year.
The destination held more than 100 business meetings in addition to those scheduled by hotels and service providers.

To achieve these goals, the delegation—led by the State Secretary of Tourism, Michelle Fridman Hirsch—sought to increase air, land, and sea connectivity, as well as finalize the signing of promotion and collaboration agreements.
The 49th edition of this event took place from April 28th to May 1st in the cities of Rosarito, Baja California Norte, and San Diego, California, symbolizing a historic binational gathering that seeks to strengthen the tourism connection between Mexico and the United States.
Throughout the event, working meetings were held with wholesale partners from segments such as adventure, luxury, wellness, LGBTQ+, weddings, and events, as well as meetings with specialized leisure and meeting tourism media from twelve countries, including the United States, Canada, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, China, and Japan, among others.

The destination’s presence was strengthened with strong participation from the Almar, Blue Chairs, Casitas Maraika, Buenaventura Grand, Hacienda Buenaventura, Villa Premiere, Canto del Sol, Mío, Friendly, Delfín, Grand Miramar, Puerto de Luna, Rosita, El Pescador, Las Palmas by the Sea, River Park Hotel, Sheraton Buganvilias, Vamar, and Container Inn hotels, as well as tour companies Vallarta Adventures, Canopy River Park, and DMCs North American Travel and Pacific Bay Side. Other destination hotels—such as Fiesta Americana, Krystal, Marriott, and Meliá—were present with their corporate representatives.
After reviewing the results of the first four months of the year following the Easter and Passover holidays—during which average occupancy rates were 83.2% and 76.5%, respectively—specific tactics and actions were established prior to the summer season to ensure Puerto Vallarta could achieve optimal occupancy.
In addition to offering all the products and services available at the destination, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust took advantage of this event to organize training sessions with travel agents, facilitate fam trips, and conduct follow-up meetings with cooperatives. Meetings were also held with airlines and wholesalers—mainly domestic—to determine the strategies to be implemented before the summer.
These actions and collaboration opportunities seek to increase visibility for the different products offered by the destination, with hotels and services that cater to different market segments. Thus, Puerto Vallarta aims to remain a leader in hotel occupancy, not only during long weekends and vacation periods, but also throughout the remainder of the year.
NEW AIRPORT TERMINAL
The Puerto Vallarta International Airport, along with Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, was also present at the event. Puerto Vallarta is one of the five airports that handle 90% of the international connectivity in our country and is currently undergoing expansion. With a historic investment of 10 billion pesos, the airport’s new international terminal will have a surface area of 89,000 square meters.
It is worth noting that it has the LEED Gold Certification, which recognizes it as a sustainable construction. It will be the first Zero Energy airport terminal in Latin America, using solar panels to supply all of its required energy; it will also feature a wastewater treatment plant and a sophisticated rainwater harvesting system.
