American Airlines more Chicago-Puerto Vallarta

0

American Airlines, a longtime partner of Puerto Vallarta, announced that it will increase new destinations from Chicago next winter, as well as flights on established routes, including direct flights to this Jalisco beach resort from the Windy City.

In a statement, it detailed that to help travelers plan their winter getaways from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), it has planned significant growth in warm-weather destinations. The airline is adding seven new destinations from ORD, including five new international destinations to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, more than doubling its service to the region with more flights from Chicago than any other airline.

As the summer season approaches, American is now offering Chicagoans a network for all seasons with new routes to popular destinations. Next winter, it will add new service from Chicago to Curaçao (CUR); Santa Cruz (STX); San Martín (SXM); Guatemala City (GUA); and San José, Costa Rica (SJO). The airline already serves 11 destinations in the region from ORD, and nearly all will fly more frequently this winter than last year. Additionally, American will add new service from Chicago to Roanoke, Virginia (ROA) and Akron/Canton, Ohio (CAK), providing greater domestic connectivity through its Midwest hub.

Building on its status as the foreign airline with the largest presence in Mexico, with service to 30 destinations in the country, American will add more flights from Chicago to Cancún (CUN), Los Cabos (SJD), and Puerto Vallarta (PVR). Puerto Vallarta will increase to two daily flights from December 18 to January 6. Beginning November 2, there will be three daily flights to Cancún and two to Los Cabos.

“With the arrival of spring in Chicago, we’re already looking forward to providing our customers with a respite from the harsh Midwest winter with more than double the number of flights to popular vacation destinations,” said Ben Humphrey, American’s vice president of Chicago Operations.

With this expansion, American will lead the way from ORD with more service than any other airline from Chicago to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, making it more convenient for customers to access coveted vacation destinations.

Tickets for American’s new expanded service from Chicago are available for purchase at aa.com or through the American mobile app beginning May 5.

Jalisco shines on the international stage.

0

Jalisco consolidates its position as Mexico’s most comprehensive destination and shines on the international stage.

With a vibrant presence at the Mexico 2025 Tourist Market in Baja California, Jalisco reaffirms why it is synonymous with Mexico. Art, design, gastronomy, folklore, and tradition come together to conquer a strategic market, while the state’s tourism department launches a powerful international promotional offensive.

Guadalajara, the great capital of the western world, is preparing to host world-class events such as the World Cup, the ITB Americas, and the World Spirits Championship.

Michel Fridman, Jalisco’s tourism secretary, noted that the infrastructure is being renovated at a rapid pace: “More than 27 million pesos in airport investment, new luxury hotels with Chablé in Costa Alegre and Thompson in Puerto Vallarta, and a wave of openings in the Jalisco capital are raising the bar.”

Fridman noted that Jalisco undoubtedly has it all: 12 Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) from Mazamitla, Tapalpa, and Ajijic to Sayula, Lagos de Moreno, and San Sebastián del Oeste. Added to this is the boom in rural tourism, such as the successful Canopy River, operated by an ejido community, now a benchmark in sustainable adventure tourism.

She emphasized that the state is also positioning itself as the epicenter of the national film industry, leveraging the power of cinema as a tool for tourism promotion and economic development.

“If you want to connect with the identity of being Mexican, come to Jalisco. Sing with the mariachi, toast with a tequila, and let yourself be carried away by everything that makes us unique in the world,” said Michelle Fridman.

Tianguis 2025 Tourism Fair Record Visitors

Tianguis 2025 Tourism Fair with World Record Visitors

Fifty percent of the appointments resulted in sales, with an economic impact projected at 1.38 billion pesos.

Baja California consolidates its position as a hub for tourism investment and development. Automatic Credits

Rosarito Beach, Baja California. The Baja California Tourism Fair 2025 closed with an economic impact of 1.38 billion pesos. It was held in a binational and decentralized manner, meeting economic and visitor expectations with hotel occupancy of 98% and 95% in Rosarito.

The first quarter of 2025 confirmed the upward trend in tourism in the region, as Baja California received 8% more visitors than in 2024, reaching 12 million tourists, according to Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila.

During the Tianguis (April 28 to May 1), 71,882 deals were closed, with the participation of 1,773 international buyers, 42% of whom were representatives from the United States and Canada. Fifty percent of the trade meetings resulted in direct sales; a total of 1,187 companies exhibited their products and services.

For the first time in its 49-year history, the Tianguis Turístico operated under a bi-national and decentralized system, with simultaneous activities in four locations: San Diego, Tijuana, Rosarito, and Ensenada. “We demonstrated that the border does not divide one, it divides one. This Tianguis is an example of how tourism can be a bridge between cultures and economies,” emphasized Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, federal Secretary of Tourism.

The legacy of the event includes the implementation of a permanent one-stop shop in consulates to streamline tourism procedures and the opening of 35 new air routes, including direct flights between Europe and the Bajío region. “Air connectivity is key to consolidating our position as a global destination; today, the world has more gateways to Mexico,” added Rodríguez Zamora.

Indigenous communities, artisans, and traditional cooks from states such as Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Guerrero were able to leave the country for the first time and showcase their products internationally at Puerta San Diego. “Today, an artisan from Oaxaca can sell her textiles in Canada, and a winemaker from the Guadalupe Valley exports his wines to Europe; that’s the power of tourism.”

The Baja California Tourism Tianguis 2025 received Guinness World Records certification for the largest attendance at a tourism event dedicated to a single nation, with 7,395 visitors in a single day, more than double the minimum required of 3,000 people.

Baja California consolidates its position as a hub for tourism investment and development. During the event, investments were announced, such as a $150 million hotel in Tijuana and a high-end six-star resort in the Guadalupe Valley, valued at $1.5 billion pesos, the state governor told the media.

“These projects add to the dynamism of the real estate sector in Rosarito, attracting international investors, primarily from the United States and Canada, who seek quality of life and opportunities in the region.” In the last three years, the state government has allocated more than 12 billion pesos to logistics and mobility infrastructure, he added.

U.S. Coast Guard “USCGC Eagle” to visit Puerto Vallarta

0

The historic U.S. Coast Guard cutter “USCGC Eagle” will visit Puerto Vallarta. Also known as “America’s Tall Ship,” it will arrive in Puerto Vallarta on May 9th for a goodwill visit, as part of its academic and cultural mission.

The training ship known as “America’s Tall Ship” will dock on May 9. Built in Germany in the 1930s, it became a U.S. war prize. Hitler, Kennedy, and Nixon were on board.

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle is a ship with a unique history. It has been boarded by both Nazi Führer Adolf Hitler and U.S. Presidents Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Richard Nixon. It was built in Germany in the 1930s and served in World War II. It became a U.S. war prize. Since then, it has served as a training ground for its cadets. Also known as “America’s Tall Ship,” it will arrive in Puerto Vallarta on May 9th for a goodwill visit, as part of its academic and cultural mission.

The National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) reported that the USCGC Eagle will be in Puerto Vallarta from May 9th to 12th, docking at Pier 2. The Press Office of the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara has issued invitations to an exclusive media presentation. Communications, local, naval, and military authorities on the day of its arrival at 11:00 a.m. The public has not yet been informed of visiting hours, as its arrival represents a unique opportunity to capture images of this nearly 90-year-old maritime treasure, get up close and personal with this impressive vessel, and chat with its crew.

It was built in the Hamburg shipyards in 1936 and launched on June 13 of the same year. The famous photograph was taken during this ceremony, showing a shipyard worker, August Landmesser, refusing to give the Nazi salute at the ceremony, in the presence of Hitler and the mother of Horst Wessel, its builder, who christened the new ship with a bottle of champagne.

Originally built as the training ship Horst Wessel in 1936, it served to train German sailors in sailing techniques until it was decommissioned at the start of World War II. It returned to service in 1942 after being fitted with anti-aircraft weapons. At the end of the war, it passed into American hands as plunder and war reparations.

Today, the Eagle is the training ship for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and is the only ship of its class actively serving in the U.S. government, home ported in New London, Connecticut. It is a three-masted vessel measuring 90 meters long, with a riveted steel hull, and the raised forecastle and quarterdeck are made of quarter-inch steel covered with 3 inches (76 mm) of teak, as are the weather decks. It has 23 sails measuring over 22,000 square feet and six miles of rigging. The tallest mast is 150 feet, roughly the equivalent of a 15-story building, and its maximum speed is 17 knots at sea.

A symbol of international collaboration, it serves as a training vessel for 153 Coast Guard Academy cadets and Officer Candidates, learning to sail the old-fashioned way, with 230 personnel on board. Its secondary mission is to represent the Coast Guard and the U.S. to the public and the international community. In this role, it has earned the nickname “America’s Tallest Ship.”

Nuevo Vallarta – About 30 km (19 miles), approximately a 35-minute drive.

Encircled by lush tropical flora and crystal-clear waters, Punta de Mita presents a secluded yet accessible sanctuary away from the busy tourist hotspots. Its prime location offers a perfect combination of exclusivity and convenience, making it an ideal retreat for travelers looking for a luxurious escape in Mexico.

When you step into Punta de Mita and face the vast ocean on the white sands of this peninsula, you will feel completely tranquil.

You will feel far away from the world, like on a deserted island, in a refuge.

And that is precisely what Punta de Mita is: an exclusive and luxurious retreat built on a peninsula that stretches for almost ten kilometers of pristine beaches, surrounded by green hills.

Here, where the Pacific Ocean opens up before visitors, they never tire of gazing at the endless turquoise blue sea.

In a land once home to artisans, merchants, and fishermen, one of the most sophisticated and select destinations in the Riviera Nayarit has developed.

On the shores of the 500-meter-long beaches of Corral del Risco and El Anclote, luxury hotels and resorts have been built with all the necessary services for the most demanding of visitors.

Imagine gazing out at the open sea while you read the words in a good book, walking through corridors that seem surrounded by Babylonian gardens, or delighting your palate while watching, from a privileged view, how the sky blends with the sea.

And golf, another of Punta de Mita’s treasures, couldn’t be missing from this exclusive paradise.

In 1999, the renowned Punta Mita Pacífico par 72 course was inaugurated, with its famous 3b hole—unique in the world—known as the “Whale’s Tail,” as it is located on a natural island 199 yards from the players’ tee shot, right on the beach.

This emblematic course, designed by the famous Jack Nicklaus, is joined by another of his creations, Punta Mita Bahía, which is sure to delight the most experienced players from around the world.

“You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting for a golf course than Punta de Mita,” said Nicklaus about this second par-72 course, which will be a true challenge for golfers with 18 holes spread across rolling terrain with Miniverde greens, Bermuda fairways, and surrounded by exotic gardens.

Its layout includes five par-3s, eight par-4s, and five par-5 holes, and the green has a distinctive slope with a deep bunker on the left side.

This destination offers a unique playing experience overlooking the Pacific.

It is no wonder Punta de Mita has been recognized as one of the world’s leading golf resorts.

Locker rooms, golf shops, a restaurant, a bar, a practice area, and lessons with professionals are other amenities offered to players and visitors. Both courses are part of the Punta Mita Golf Club, so access is exclusive to residents of the development or guests of the Four Seasons Punta Mita Resorts and St. Regis Punta Mita Resort.

And to complete the experience, you can visit one of the area’s boutiques or exclusive restaurants, where you can sample gourmet delicacies, indulge in a spa treatment, or have fun at one of the nightclubs.

Let yourself be seduced by the promise of a haven of fine sand, surrounded by whimsical rock formations; breathe in the fresh air of Punta de Mita and return home feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. You won’t regret it.
