Guadalajara expands its connection with Canada by adding a flight to Calgary

WestJet, the second-largest airline in the North American country, will operate two weekly direct flights to Calgary, Alberta, beginning December 7. https://www.airtransat.com

The state reaches more than 775,000 annual seats to Canada with new routes and frequencies offered by WestJet, Air Canada, Air Transat, Flair, and Porter Airlines, strengthening its international air connectivity.

To consolidate Jalisco as a priority destination in the Canadian market, the State Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, announced the addition of a new air route between Guadalajara and Calgary (YYC), operated by WestJet, beginning December 7, 2025.

This connection, which will depart from Guadalajara International Airport, operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), will be seasonal and will operate until April 12, 2026, with two weekly frequencies (Tuesdays and Sundays) aboard a Boeing 787-800-47 … 737 with capacity for 174 passengers.

This route brings the total to four direct connections between Guadalajara and Canada, reflecting the sustained growth in air connectivity between the two destinations.

Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretary of Tourism of Jalisco, emphasized that the relationship with the Canadian market has strengthened in recent years thanks to the increase in visitors choosing the state’s various destinations. Therefore, this new route contributes to maintaining that trend and boosting Jalisco’s presence in one of North America’s key markets.

“We are very pleased to see how the growing connection between the Canadian market and Jalisco is stronger than ever. This is a great opportunity to consolidate our ties, highlight the cultural closeness we share, and reaffirm something fundamental: we welcome Canadian travelers to Jalisco,” said Michelle Fridman.

The Secretary celebrated the incorporation of WestJet as an airline with a long history, diversifying travel options and consolidating ties between both regions by becoming Canada’s second-largest airline.

The company has three decades of experience, a solid operations center in Calgary, an expanding global network, and more than 27 million passengers annually.

Fridman Hirsch added that more and more people from Canada are visiting destinations such as Guadalajara, Chapala, Puerto Vallarta, Costalegre, and the state’s Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns), so Jalisco remains committed to strengthening this trend through increased connectivity with more than 17 Canadian airports.

John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of WestJet, noted that the Canadian airline is reinforcing its commitment as a local airline and Calgary’s primary carrier. “WestJet is committed to offering convenient connections and exceptional value, just as our passengers have come to expect,” the executive commented.

Canada Closer Than Ever

● Starting in December of this year, Air Transat will inaugurate the direct Montreal-Guadalajara route with two weekly flights, while Air Canada will begin operations for the first time in Guadalajara with three weekly direct flights to Toronto, beginning in November 2025.

● As a result of these new operations and the increase in frequencies by Air Canada, Air Transat, and Flair Airlines, Jalisco will reach more than 775,000 annual arrival seats.

● Starting next winter season, Porter Airlines will operate three routes to Canada from Puerto Vallarta, with destinations to Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton. The latter will allow the Puerto Vallarta airport to connect with 17 Canadian cities, for a total of 37 international destinations and 13 domestic destinations, served by 18 airlines.

Amplía Guadalajara su conexión con Canadá sumando vuelo a Calgary

Westjet, la segunda aerolínea más grande del país nortemaericano, operará dos vuelos semanales directo a Calgary, Alberta, a partir del 7 de diciembre

El estado alcanza más de 775 mil asientos anuales hacia Canadá con nuevas rutas y frecuencias de WestJet, Air Canada, Air Transat, Flair y Porter Airlines, fortaleciendo su conectividad aérea internacional

Para consolidar a Jalisco como un destino prioritario en el mercado canadiense, el Gobierno del Estado, a través de la Secretaría de Turismo, anunció la incorporación de una nueva ruta aérea entre Guadalajara y Calgary (YYC), operada por la aerolínea WestJet, a partir del 7 de diciembre de 2025.

Esta conexión, que partirá del Aeropuerto Internacional de Guadalajara, operado por el Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), tendrá carácter estacional y operará hasta el 12 de abril de 2026, con dos frecuencias semanales —martes y domingo—, a bordo de un Boeing 737 con capacidad para 174 pasajeros.

Con esta ruta suman cuatro conexiones directas entre Guadalajara y Canadá, siendo un reflejo del crecimiento sostenido de la conectividad aérea entre ambos destinos.

Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretaria de Turismo de Jalisco, subrayó que la relación con el mercado canadiense se fortaleció en los últimos años gracias al incremento de visitantes que eligen los distintos destinos del estado, por lo que esta nueva ruta contribuye a mantener esa tendencia e impulsar la presencia de Jalisco en uno de los mercados clave de América del Norte.

“Estamos muy contentos de ver como la creciente conexión entre el mercado canadiense y Jalisco están más fuertes que nunca. Esta es una gran oportunidad para consolidar nuestros lazos, destacar la cercanía cultural que compartimos y reafirmar algo fundamental, en Jalisco recibimos con gusto a las y los viajeros canadienses”, expresó Michelle Fridman.

La Secretaria celebró la incorporación de WestJet como una aerolínea con amplia trayectoria, que diversifica las opciones de viaje y consolida los vínculos entre ambas regiones al ser la segunda mayor aerolínea de Canadá.

La empresa cuenta con tres décadas de experiencia, un sólido centro de operaciones en Calgary, una red global en expansión y más de 27 millones de pasajeros al año.

Fridman Hirsch añadió que cada vez más personas provenientes de Canadá visitan destinos como Guadalajara, Chapala, Puerto Vallarta, Costalegre y los Pueblos Mágicos de la entidad, por lo que Jalisco mantiene el compromiso de fortalecer esta tendencia mediante una conectividad creciente con más de 17 aeropuertos canadienses.

A wine cellar is a storage room for wine in bottles or barrels, or more rarely in carboys, amphorae, or plastic containers. In an active wine cellar, important factors such as temperature and humidity are maintained by a climate control system. In contrast, passive wine cellars are not climate-controlled, and are usually built underground to reduce temperature swings. An above ground wine cellar is often called a wine room, while a small wine cellar (fewer than 500 bottles) is sometimes termed a wine closet. Purpose

Wine cellars protect alcoholic beverages from potentially harmful external influences, providing darkness, constant temperature, and constant humidity. Wine is a natural, perishable food product issued from fermentation of fruit. Left exposed to heat, light, vibration or fluctuations in temperature and humidity, all types of wine can spoil. When properly stored, wines not only maintain their quality but many actually improve in aroma, flavor, and complexity as they mature. Depending on their level of sugar and alcohol, wines are more or less sensitive to temperature variances; wine with higher alcohol and/or sugar content will be less sensitive to temperature variance.

Conditions

Wine can be stored satisfactorily between 7–18 °C (45–64 °F) as long as any variations are gradual. A temperature of 13 °C (55 °F), much like that found in the caves used to store wine in France, is ideal for both short-term storage and long-term aging of wine. Wine generally matures differently and more slowly at a lower temperature than it does at a higher temperature. When the temperature swings are significant, 14 degrees or more, it will cause the wine to breathe through the cork which significantly speeds up the aging process. Between 10–14 °C (50–57 °F), wines will age normally.

Pueblos Mágicos en el turístico de Jalisco

Resaltan el papel de los Pueblos Mágicos en el desarrollo turístico de Jalisco en tercer Foro Regional.

•Las y los panelistas coincidieron en que la gastronomía, tradiciones y valores locales son clave para fortalecer los destinos del interior y conectar con nuevas generaciones.

•Secturjal realizó el tercer Foro de Consulta Turística Jalisco 2030, para integrar propuestas al Plan Estatal de Turismo 2025–2030

Con el objetivo de recabar propuestas para el diseño del Plan Estatal de Turismo 2025–2030, la Secretaría de Turismo del Gobierno del Estado de Jalisco (Secturjal), llevó a cabo el tercer Foro de Consulta Turística Jalisco 2030, en el municipio de Ahualulco de Mercado.

Este encuentro fue el primero en su tipo en resaltar el potencial de los Pueblos Mágicos y municipios del interior, como puntos estratégicos del turismo regional.

Más de 120 representantes del sector turístico de distintas regiones del estado —Altos, Sierra Occidental, Sur, Valles, Ciénega y Zona Metropolitana— participaron en el panel “Conecta con tu interior: descentralización turística, creando experiencias con identidad”, moderado por Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Secretaria de Turismo de Jalisco.

Michelle Fridman señaló que la identidad es clave para consolidar un destino turístico sólido, sustentado en elementos como la gastronomía y las tradiciones.

“El éxito de los Pueblos Mágicos, y me atrevería a decir de cualquier destino turístico en el mundo, es la identidad. Ésta puede estar en la historia o en los íconos representativos. Hay que arraigarnos a esta identidad porque es lo que llama al turista. El interior de Jalisco es la identidad no sólo de Jalisco, es la identidad de México”, señaló la Secretaria Michelle Fridman.

Las y los panelistas coincidieron en que la identidad es el eje para diferenciar y fortalecer a los destinos turísticos del interior de Jalisco, destacando que elementos como la gastronomía, la música y las tradiciones representan una riqueza única que debe preservarse, comunicarse con autenticidad y transmitirse a las nuevas generaciones con historias, formatos y lenguajes que conecten con el público joven.

Joan Passolas Farrerons, Secretario General de la Association Mondiale pour la Formation Hotelière et Touristique (AMFORHT) —Asociación Mundial para la Formación Profesional Turística—, destacó que Guadalajara es una marca reconocida internacionalmente que debe aprovecharse como plataforma para proyectar a los municipios del interior.

Maru Toledo Oliva, Directora del Centro de Investigación Gastronómica de Jalisco, puntualizó que cuando las experiencias están bien diseñadas e investigadas, los visitantes regresan y recomiendan los destinos.

Coincidió también en que las comunidades locales son la base para los nuevos modelos de desarrollo turístico, y que es necesario reconocer y proyectar los valores propios de cada región.

Miguel Andrés Hernández, Director General del Fideicomiso Público de Turismo de la Zona Costalegre, expuso que para conectar con las nuevas generaciones es indispensable adaptar la comunicación turística a sus hábitos digitales.

“Lo que tenemos que saber es cómo comunicar. El storytelling no es otra cosa más que saber armar con un argumento adecuado y conveniente lo que nuestra identidad tiene para ofrecer, pero en las palabras que ellos quieren entender. El mercado no nos va a preguntar qué tenemos para vender, nosotros tenemos la obligación de hacérselo saber”, señaló Miguel Andrés Hernández.

Las y los panelistas coincidieron en que la identidad es fundamental, para consolidar la oferta turística del estado desde una perspectiva local.

Al respecto, Fernando Mandri Bellot, Director General del Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit, destacó que las comunidades locales son la base y el núcleo de los nuevos modelos de desarrollo turístico.

En el mismo sentido, Tony Yarto, Director General de Incubatour, mencionó que la esencia del turismo reside en las y los jaliscienses del interior del estado, donde se concentran los verdaderos valores.

Subrayó la importancia de reconocer y proyectar las características que hacen única a cada región.

Al concluir el panel se llevaron a cabo mesas de trabajo donde representantes de gobiernos municipales, iniciativa privada, comunidad académica y ciudadanía discutieron propuestas relacionadas con los ejes temáticos del foro: profesionalización e innovación turística con identidad, integración regional, cohesión social, sostenibilidad territorial y turismo entre semana.

Las conclusiones de estos ejercicios nutrirán la construcción del Plan Estatal de Turismo 2025–2030.

Este foro fue el tercero de una serie de cuatro encuentros regionales, realizados el primero y el segundo en Guadalajara y Puerto Vallarta.

El último foro se llevará a cabo en Costalegre, el 9 de julio en Cihuatlán, enfocado en turismo de naturaleza y desarrollos turísticos orgánicos.

Prepare the taco vegetables and inserts and set aside. Pat the fish dry and cut into chunks. Season with salt. Place generously in flour on a plate and mix with salt and pepper. Dredge the fish pieces in the flour, coating well. Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a medium skillet. Over medium-high heat, fry the fish pieces for a few minutes, turning once. Remove from the heat and place them on the prepared stencils. Top each stencil with the vegetables and chili mayo.

The Mexican government tries its best to avoid the contamination of GMO’s grains or seeds and the use of pesticides.

If you live outside of great metropolis, you are more likely find markets with regional producers. Where there is no need to “marked/labeled” as non-GMO or organic. It is not likely to have farmers to use pesticides due to the small productions.

Large super markets need large suppliers and means of large productions / controls / consistent supplies / massive distribution. Those producers need to have a production on steroids. Most are produced in closed environment. (green house and hydrophobic)
