Puerto Vallarta Turtle Nesting and Protection. The Municipal Government of Puerto Vallarta, headed by Luis Munguía, is preparing for the upcoming sea turtle nesting and protection season, which will begin in June and run through January 2026. Through the Department of Environmental Sustainability, preparation work has begun at the Holi beach hatchery.

Dr. Bartolo Cruz, head of the department, explained that the sand in the hatchery nests is currently being changed to prevent the growth of fungus, a common threat during nesting. Although it is impossible to predict the exact number of nests that will form, the presence of turtles is expected on multiple beaches in the municipality.
In addition to monitoring and caring for the nests, the government will conduct environmental education campaigns, as well as open days for the public to participate in the release of sea turtle hatchling, a unique experience for the residents and visitors of Puerto Vallarta.
This initiative reaffirms the Government of Good’s commitment to biodiversity and the protection of key species for local marine ecosystems.
