La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Riviera Nayarit

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a Mexican fishing village situated on the Pacific Ocean’s Bahía de Banderas in the state of Nayarit. It is situated approximately 25 km from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. The town name comes from a cross that is made of Huanacaxtle wood which is located at the town’s entrance

Nayarit Marina is the most modern on the Mexican Pacific with a capacity of 400 ships measuring between 30 and 400 feet. The marina is equipped with all the services needed for a comfortable stay: bathrooms and showers, security, electricity and fueling stations.

This modern La Cruz development includes a yacht club, business center, sky bar, restaurant, seafood market, and pier. It also has one of the best equipped shipyards in the country, hich among other things, is home to the largest travel lift on the Pacific. Aiming to spur additional growth of this area of Riviera Nayarit, a plan has been set in motion to house commercial spaces within the Marina for the market’s most recognized name brands, condominiums and restaurants.

The village charms of La Cruz would not be complete without the golden sands of La Cruz Beach, which covers five kilometers and is divided into five sections: El Tizate, Cruz de Huanacaxtle, La Manzanilla, Piedra Blanca, and Arena Blanca.

You will find not only the obvious delights of a tropical beach, but also a variety of restaurants where you can dine on dishes of freshly caught fish and creations that have been a culinary tradition of this town for more than 50 years.

And there is no shortage of things to do in the area. Enjoy numerous local activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing (in winter the waves reach heights adequate for this sport), and of course fishing. Deep sea fishing is one of the main water activities of La Cruz, thanks to the abundance of fish species such as tuna, marlin and mahi-mahi.

La Cruz Farmer’s Market now hosts around 200 vendors each Sunday from November to April, 10am to 2 pm. It is one of the most amazing open-air markets you will ever visit! Vendors offer everything from clothes to ceramics to freshly baked bread.

The La Cruz Sunday Farmer’s Market mission is to promote community development in La Cruz through educational, cultural, and recreational activities. With the growth of the market, their social projects have grown as well.
