A group of taxi drivers in Puerto Vallarta has created “Yellow Taxi”, a mobile application already available in AppStore and PlayStore so that people can request a yellow car and make a transfer.
This second new attempt by Vallarta taxi drivers to compete against applications such as Uber and InDriver promises to be more serious and achieve a significant number of users.
There are around 60 taxi drivers who have already grouped around Yellow Taxi, and they invite other licensees to join this initiative.
The advantage they boast is that they will not have a dynamic rate, so the costs of transfer will always be fixed, and all users will be able to clearly and quickly establish where they want to go and know how much money they will be taken for.

Yellow Taxi arrives at a time when In Drive fares have risen in an exaggerated and abusive manner, with drivers getting together in groups to hang around an area and inflate prices to ridiculous amounts such as $150 pesos for 3 kilometers.
Puerto Vallarta’s traditional yellow taxis are modernizing their services with the launch of the “Yellow Taxi PV” mobile app. Available for download on iOS and Android devices since January 15, this innovative platform allows passengers to easily request a ride directly from their smartphone.
Unlike ride-hailing services that use dynamic pricing models, Yellow Taxi PV will maintain fixed fares, ensuring predictable travel costs for passengers, regardless of weather conditions, special events or traffic congestion.
“We are excited to offer Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors a convenient and reliable way to access traditional taxi services,” said Castillo. “The Yellow Taxi PV app provides a seamless user experience while maintaining the integrity of our established fare structure.
Riders can easily pay for their rides through the app itself, using the onboard credit/debit card processing terminal or with cash. Additionally, there are no cancellation fees, providing passengers with added flexibility and peace of mind.

While the initial number of participating drivers is currently around 60 to 70, which is a small fraction of the approximately 1,700 taxis operating in the city, the app developers are confident that the growth in user base will lead to increased driver participation.
