Le premier festival « I Madonnari » a eu lieu à Puerto Vallarta, au Mexique, en 2005, avec des artistes à la craie du monde entier dessinant des interprétations étonnantes directement dans les rues et les trottoirs du centre-ville. Maintenant dans sa onzième année, cette fête traditionnelle et colorée d’art éphémère sur le trottoir transformera les allées de la Plaza Principal de PV en de magnifiques œuvres d’art.

Histoire:

Le festival de peinture de rue I Madonnari est le premier festival du genre dans l’hémisphère occidental. Il a été créé en 1987 par Kathy Koury, ancienne directrice générale du Children’s Creative Project, comme événement de collecte de fonds au profit des programmes d’éducation artistique. Il y a maintenant plus de 100 festivals de peinture de rue semblables aux États-Unis, au Canada, en Amérique centrale et en Amérique du Sud.

Mme Koury s’est rendue en Italie en 1986 pour visiter le concours international de peinture de rue dans la petite ville de Grazie di Curtatone, dans le nord de l’Italie, près de Mantoue. Ce premier événement international produit par le Centro Italiano Madonnari depuis 1972 a lieu chaque année à la mi-août.

La peinture de rue a probablement commencé en Italie au XVIe siècle et a une longue tradition dans les villes d’Europe occidentale. Les artistes ont commencé à peindre dans la rue en se rendant aux festivals religieux et folkloriques catholiques où ils dessinaient des images de la Madone à la craie dans la rue. Ces artistes sont devenus connus sous le nom de « Madonnari » ou peintres de rue. Leurs images sont appelées peintures de rue parce que lorsqu’elles sont bien dessinées, elles ressemblent à des peintures. Ces artistes ont vécu et vivent encore grâce aux pièces de monnaie que les spectateurs lançaient sur leurs tableaux de rue en guise de remerciement pour leur travail.

The participation of more than 100 people is expected, who will freely express their work in the main square of Puerto Vallarta, as well as in the side corridors of the Municipal Palace.

The first ‘I Madonnari’ Festival took place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 2005, with chalk artists from around the world drawing amazing renditions directly on downtown streets and sidewalks. Now in its eleventh year, this traditional and colorful fiesta of ephemeral art on pavement will transform the walk ways in PV’s Plaza Principal into beautiful works of art.

History:

The I Madonnari Street Painting Festival is the first festival of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. It was created in 1987 by Kathy Koury, the former executive director of the Children’s Creative Project, as a fundraising event to benefit the arts education programs. Now there are more than 100 similar street painting festivals throughout the U.S., Canada, Central and South America.

Ms. Koury traveled to Italy in 1986, to visit the International Street Painting Competition in the small town of Grazie di Curtatone in northern Italy near Mantova. This first international event produced by the Centro Italiano Madonnari since 1972, takes place annually in mid-August.

Street painting probably began in Italy during the 16th century and has a long tradition in cities in Western Europe. Artists began street painting by traveling to Catholic religious and folk festivals where they drew images of the Madonna using chalk on the street. These artists became known as “Madonnari” or street painters. Their images are called street paintings because when well drawn they resemble paintings. These artists lived and still live from the viewers’ coins thrown onto the street paintings in appreciation for the work.

The Río Cuale Market celebrated The emblematic Río Cuale Municipal Market began the celebration of the first 45 years of construction. It has 156 stores that offer crafts and food.

With a popular street party, the celebration of the first 45 years of construction of one of the most emblematic municipal markets in Puerto Vallarta, the Río Cuale, began.

The tenants of this market joined in the celebration of this space that is visited by thousands of tourists a year. Currently it has 156 stores, 18 of food and 138 of crafts.

The municipal market began with the famous polleras that in 1939 gathered in front of the Plaza de Armas to sell a variety of Mexican snacks. They were later located in the so-called Casco Viejo, also known as La Rueda or El Volantín, in the space currently occupied by the market where the building would later be built with material. It would be inaugurated on November 27, 1979 by the then municipal president Eugenio Torres and the governor Flavio Romero de Velazco.

Vallarta – New York flight. This new route that will depart from Puerto Vallarta will benefit both commerce and entrepreneurship.

A new Alaska Airlines destination was inaugurated at Puerto Vallarta International Airport.

With this new flight, Alaska Airlines expands its network of destinations, adding its fourth new destination of the year to the most important city in the United States. This is the airline’s 13th route at Puerto Vallarta airport.

This new destination seeks to promote the growth of tourism in Jalisco and improve connectivity with other tourist destinations in Mexico.

They assured that this new route will benefit both commerce and entrepreneurship, and will position Puerto Vallarta as an important tourist destination at a national and international level.

The new flight to New York is expected to further boost this growth in 2025, surpassing the 6% increase recorded at the end of 2024.

This popular dish is made from raw fish or shrimp that’s been marinated in lime juice to “cook” it. The juicy meat in these shrimp or fish meals is then mixed with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cilantro, and other vegetables and spices before being served on crispy tostadas.
