Puerto Vallarta Reinforces Public Safety

Published on

More than 120 security posts will be installed in areas identified as high crime spots in the city: malecon, marina vallarta, parks, the linear park, romantic zone, and many other strategic public areas.

Surveillance posts

The government of Puerto Vallarta continues to reinforce security measures with the installation of more than 120 alert and video surveillance posts in various strategic points of the city. These devices, known as Totems, will allow a faster response to emergencies and will contribute to the reduction of crime, especially in areas where high crime rates have been recorded.

The National Survey of Urban Public Security, carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), positions the city of Puerto Vallarta as the safest in the state of Jalisco, and the second safest in all of Mexico.

The management to acquire these posts was carried out during the previous municipal administration, and so far they have been distributed in areas classified as “red zones” due to their high incidence of crimes. Of the 120 posts installed, 100 are equipped with fixed audio and video cameras, while the remaining 20 have rotating cameras, all connected to the Command and Control Center (C2) located in the Security Police Station.

This surveillance system, financed with FORTAMUN resources, is in the process of completion and is expected to be operational in the next few days. Although its complete delivery had been projected before the end of the previous administration, the installation work is still ongoing.

In addition, it has been reported that the security posts are being placed in key areas, such as the linear park and some avenues where cases of violence against women and other crimes have been detected. These devices allow citizens to report emergencies by pressing a button that connects directly to the C2, facilitating a quick and efficient response by authorities.
