While exploring the beautiful town of Tequila, we stumbled upon something completely unforgettable a real traditional Mexican wedding taking place inside the historic Parroquia Santiago Apóstol right in the city square.
This stunning church, originally dating back to the 17th century, sits in the heart of Tequila and is one of the town’s most iconic landmarks. The stone architecture, ringing bells, floral-lined aisle, and emotional ceremony created one of the most authentic moments of our trip through Mexico’s tequila capital.
Tequila is famous worldwide as the birthplace of tequila, surrounded by endless blue agave fields and historic distilleries recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage region. But beyond the tastings and tours, the town itself is full of culture, mariachi music, colorful plazas, local markets, rooftop bars, and moments like this that make the experience unforgettable.
Seeing a wedding ceremony unfold inside this historic church while locals and visitors gathered outside in the plaza felt like stepping into a movie scene. Sometimes the best travel memories are the ones you never planned.
