Jalisco Six-Year Plan and World-Class Tourism Products

At an event held in the nation’s capital, Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism, Michel Fridman, presented a series of announcements that mark a new chapter in the state’s tourism projection. This includes a six-year plan that charts the course to 2030 and a series of innovative tourism products that seek to position the state as an international benchmark.

Jalisco World-Class Events

After the Mariachi Gathering, the Brussels World Spirits Competition will begin, a competition in which Jalisco will compete with spirits from around the world before international judges, seeking to showcase the quality and diversity of its production.

The secretary emphasized that these events not only attract visitors, but are also platforms for disseminating the best of the state’s gastronomy, culture, and tourism offerings.

Presentation of the Six-Year Tourism Plan.

One of the most anticipated moments will be on September 7, when the Jalisco Six-Year Tourism Plan will be presented at the Mariachi Gala at the Degollado Theater. This document is the result of four consultation forums held in different regions of the state, with the participation of more than 500 members of the sector and figures such as Enrique de la Madrid and Gary Grimmer.

The plan establishes the guidelines for the state’s tourism development through 2030, with axes focused on product diversification, infrastructure strengthening, and international outreach.

New Tourism Products

Fridman revealed that Jalisco is working on five tourism products linked to wine and spirits, with the goal of diversifying its offerings and generating high-value experiences:

Tequila Valley

Evolution of the current Tequila Route, in partnership with the tequila industry, to become a world-class region in the style of Napa Valley or Valle de Guadalupe, integrating gastronomy and premium experiences into the agave landscape.

Los Altos Tequila Route

A circuit that will highlight the high-quality tequila produced in the Los Altos region, with tequila houses focused not only on production but also on immersive tourist experiences.

Raicilla Route

Expanded and improved, it covers 13 municipalities and connects to Mascota, concluding in Puerto Vallarta, with cultural and gastronomic activities.

Los Altos Wine Route

La Route des Vins Jalisc

New product focused on the emerging wine industry in this area, with tastings, tours, and wine tourism experiences.
Ribera de Chapala Wine Route

It will connect the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Ajijic with vineyards facing Mexico’s largest lake, combining lake landscapes and forested mountains. This product will be presented in 2027 during the Brussels National Wine Competition, which will be held in Jalisco.

Infrastructure and Event Attraction

Fridman noted that Jalisco’s infrastructure is one of its greatest attractions for international events. In the first six months of the current administration, more than 20 new air routes have been inaugurated at its two airports, both among the five best connected in the country.

Furthermore, the hotel offering, which places Jalisco second in the nation, will continue to grow with the construction of 39 new hotels in the next two years, including luxury developments such as Chablé in Costa Alegre and Thompson Puerto Vallarta.

Jalisco will also host other important events, such as the Ariel Awards in Puerto Vallarta, reaffirming its role as host of international conferences, fairs, and competitions.

Jalisco: Diversity and the Essence of Mexico

The official emphasized that Jalisco offers a complete representation of Mexican diversity: Magical Towns, haciendas, beaches, cliffs, forests, and lakes, all with the hospitality and cultural essence that led it to coin the slogan “Jalisco is Mexico.”

Fridman concluded by inviting media and opinion leaders to spread this positive news:

“If Jalisco is Mexico and we can broadcast good news, we are sure that we will contribute to a better reputation for our country. And that fills us with pride.”
