Ultimate Adventure Puerto Vallarta: EdenVA Jungle Escape | The Ultimate DIY Adventure Near Puerto Vallarta
Edenva Jungle Escape | The Ultimate DIY Adventure Near Puerto Vallarta
Just south of Puerto Vallarta, tucked deep into the lush jungle near Mismaloya, lies Edenva Ecotourism Park, a place where adventure, nature, and pure relaxation come together in one unforgettable experience.
Getting to Edenva can be part of the adventure itself. Most visitors book organized tours that include transportation and zip-lining packages. Currently Edenva charges $1400 pesos for their zip line package. Kids costing 700 pesos. This full package includes:
– round trip transportation
– entrance to the park
– full zip line canopy circuit
– safety equipment and guides
– access to the river, trails, and facilities

If you decide to go without zip lining the cost is 550 pesos for an adult. Food and drinks are extra.
We decided to do it on our own and honestly, it made the experience feel even more rewarding. Cost to enter the park was 350 pesos however 250 pesos was applied fagainst your food and drink bill. To get their on your own, one option is to take a local bus from Puerto Vallarta down to Mismaloya, then grab a taxi for the final 4.6 km up into the mountains. You can also arrange transportation directly through Edenva. In our case, the four of us simply took an Uber for 215 pesos straight to Mismaloya, then continued up the winding road.

From there, the journey becomes something special. The road climbs into the jungle starting with cobblestone and eventually turning into dirt surrounded by dense greenery, towering trees, and the sounds of nature all around. It’s a scenic ride that builds anticipation with every turn.
One important tip: getting back can be trickier. There is little to no cell service at Edenva, so calling an Uber isn’t really an option. Plan ahead, arrange a ride, or be ready for a bit of improvisation. We were fully prepared to walk the 4.6 km back downhill to Mismaloya, but got lucky after chatting with a tour bus driver, they offered us a ride all the way back to Puerto Vallarta for just 100 pesos per person.

Once you arrive at Edenva, the atmosphere hits you immediately. This isn’t just an adventure park it is a jungle oasis. The centerpiece is a stunning river flowing with cool, crystal-clear green water, surrounded by smooth rocks, small rapids, and natural pools. Hammocks are strung up everywhere some right beside the river, others hanging over it perfect for relaxing in the shade while listening to the water flow.
There are countless little spots to settle in, many of them secluded enough to feel like your own private paradise. Whether you want to socialize or completely unplug, there is a space for you here.

We came primarily to hike and explore the natural beauty, and Edenva delivers on that in a big way. The trail starts off clearly marked and easy to follow for about the first kilometer. After that, the path becomes more of an adventure you simply follow the river, choosing your own route along rocks, shallow crossings, and jungle paths. It’s immersive, a little rugged, and incredibly rewarding.
Along the way, we were surrounded by the sounds of birds and wildlife, with thick jungle canopy overhead and the occasional opening revealing the flowing river below. You can go as far as you want or keep it short it is completely up to you and your energy level.

After our hike, we made our way back to the main area and explored a bit more before settling in for lunch right beside the river. The food was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want after a morning in the jungle. We had shrimp tacos and quesadillas, but the menu offers plenty of options, from nachos and guacamole to more familiar North American items like fries and hamburgers.
With full stomachs, it was time to fully embrace the river. We spent the afternoon swimming, floating through gentle rapids, and cooling off in the natural pools and small waterfalls. The water is refreshing and clear, the kind that instantly resets you after the heat of the day. Between swims, we relaxed in hammocks, took breaks for drinks, and just soaked in the peaceful surroundings.

While we did not try the zip-lining this time, Edenva offers 10 different lines, and it was fun watching others soar through the jungle canopy. It’s definitely on the list for next time.
Edenva is not just a destination it is an experience. A place where you can hike, swim, relax, eat well, and disconnect from the noise of everyday life. Whether you go for the adventure or just to unwind by the river, it’s truly a magical escape in the heart of the jungle.
