The destination promoted its world-class golf courses and luxury accommodations during the 17th IAGTO North America Golf Tourism Convention.
Puerto Vallarta reaffirmed its leadership as one of Mexico’s top golf destinations by participating in the 17th North America Golf Tourism Convention (NAC), organized by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), from June 22-24.
This important business event brought together 254 industry professionals from 32 countries, including 115 buyers specializing in golf vacations from North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and Asia.
Through a one-to-one (B2B) business meeting format, the event facilitated the establishment of business relationships with tour operators and travel advisors dedicated exclusively to this segment.
As part of its international promotion strategy, Puerto Vallarta held 38 business meetings with specialized buyers to present the destination’s extensive offerings, including world-class golf courses, luxury hotels, excellent air connectivity, internationally renowned cuisine, and a wide variety of complementary experiences that enrich visitors’ stays.
In this edition, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board was joined by Marina Vallarta Golf Club and Vista Vallarta Golf Club, two of the destination’s most iconic venues, recognized for the quality of their facilities, the design of their courses, and the spectacular natural landscapes they offer golfers.
The destination also participated in the convention’s golf tournament, held on June 22 at the Iberostar Playa Paraíso hotel’s golf course, an additional opportunity to strengthen business relationships and foster networking among buyers and suppliers in the industry.
IAGTO operators are responsible for more than 90% of golf vacation packages sold worldwide and generate annual revenue exceeding €2.5 billion.
The North American Golf Tourism Convention is geared towards golf resorts, golf clubs, hotels, tourism boards, destination management companies (DMOs), destination management companies (DMCs), and other specialized suppliers from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean, solidifying its position as one of the most important events for marketing golf travel in the Americas.
With its participation, Puerto Vallarta continues to promote one of its strongest tourism segments, supported by an offering that combines courses designed by internationally renowned figures, high-end accommodations, air connectivity with key source markets, and the privileged setting of Banderas Bay.
This has led to Puerto Vallarta hosting the VidantaWorld Mexico Open for four consecutive years. This year, the tournament will take place from October 29 to November 1, marking a strategic shift in the PGA TOUR schedule as it will be held for the first time during the fall season. The new dates will coincide with the Day of the Dead celebrations and the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Golf Federation, solidifying its position as a key platform for the development of Mexican golf and the international projection of Puerto Vallarta as a host of top-tier sporting events.
