If you are looking for one of the MOST fun afternoons in Puerto Vallarta, you’ve got to check out La Huerta Bar & Grill! Tucked beside the beautiful Cuale River, this open-air venue has become a local favorite and it just keeps getting better.
From Tuesday through Sunday starting at 3 PM a local band takes the stage. Note the venue closes at 7 PM so plenty of time after to head into old town and explore the nightlife there if you haven’t completely emptied your fun tank of energy.
On Tuesday the day we chose to attend, the incredible local band Monaco took the stage for three full sets of high-energy live music. The vibe is unbeatable—dancing, cold drinks, sunshine, and some of the best BBQ around. We’re talking pork and beef ribs, brisket, pork belly, pulled pork, and a full lineup of tasty Mexican dishes. Come hungry!
La Huerta has made a ton of awesome improvements recently. I spoke with manager Jesús, who shared some of the upgrades:
• New shade sails over the dining area
• Expanded stage moved to the north side for better views
• Larger dance floor (more room to move!)
• Bigger kitchen
• Fun games added, including cornhole
• Brand-new pickleball courts available in the mornings
• And yes… you can even swim in the river before the party kicks off!
It’s just a short trip from Old Town—close enough to get there quickly, but far enough that you’ll probably want to take an Uber, taxi, or bus. And with its large open layout, it’s perfect for big groups of friends.
