Hotel Rosita at the Heart of Puerto Vallarta

Published on

Hotel Rosita is located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta, where the peaceful embrace of the Pacific Ocean meets the shore, Hotel Rosita is a beautiful reminder of the city’s rich history and impressive architecture.

Hotel Rosita: A Legacy Since 1948
Hotel Rosita was founded by Don Salvador González in 1948 and named in honor of his eldest daughter. The founder’s vision at the time was to create a place of rest for travelers passing through Puerto Vallarta; many of them only stayed a few nights before continuing their journey.

Among Puerto Vallarta’s historical establishments, Hotel Rosita ushered in the era of formal hospitality, despite the existence of prior inns and an employee accommodation hosted by the Montgomery Company. The hotel stands out for its captivating Mexican-style design and unbeatable location at the end of the malecón, almost 1.5 miles long. This strategic location grants direct immersion in Puerto Vallarta’s vibrant life.

Hotel Rosita‘s foundations are steeped in history, with a story that began in 1948, when Don Salvador Gonzalez aimed to establish premier accommodations in Puerto Vallarta. He named the hotel after his daughter, Rosa, as a tribute. Located steadfastly on the shoreline, where the renowned Malecon starts, the hotel offers a unique gem to visitors, allowing them to savor the purest essence of Puerto Vallarta.

The impressive sound reflection of Hotel Rosita‘s building serves as a place that stores history and traditions. Each corner and crevice of this building tells tales of past times, bringing up a feeling of sentimentality and ancient manners. For selective tourists who desire to experience genuine surroundings that blend effortlessly with nearby marketplaces, gastronomic paradises, and nighttime enjoyment, Hotel Rosita stands out as the perfect option.

A relaxing and scenic walk of only ten to fifteen minutes from the hotel helps to discover the wonders of Puerto Vallarta‘s attractions, such as Guadalupe Church, the lively Main Square, and the charming Cuale River Municipal Market. This stay becomes a glimpse into the daily life of the city, inviting travelers to merge with its unique atmosphere.

Hotel Rosita‘s lodgings blend modern conveniences with classic details. The regular rooms, adorned with typical Mexican decorations, include two twin beds, air conditioning, cable TV, a phone, and a balcony with breathtaking views of downtown Puerto Vallarta. Meanwhile, the suites with ocean views reveal a vast view of the Mexican Pacific, unfolding a picturesque place to unwind, lulled by the soothing rhythm of the waves.

The hotel is more than just a sanctuary; it serves as a gateway, welcoming adventurers to explore Puerto Vallarta‘s past and present. The hotel is a valuable attraction. Its architecture, lineage, and location make it a treasure trove for those who appreciate authenticity and the charm of this Mexican coastal destination.

The hotel started with just eight rooms, featuring communal showers and bathrooms, which was typical in the 1950s. Due to the hotel’s success, the construction of more rooms began shortly after, expanding to over 60 rooms designed to accommodate families visiting this almost untouched Mexican village for a relaxing stay. It wasn’t until after the filming of La Noche de la Iguana that Puerto Vallarta began attracting more international tourists, turning Hotel Rosita into a must-visit destination. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were frequent visitors to Hotel Rosita, often dining there or simply enjoying the hotel’s magnificent view.

In the 1980s, the final building of Hotel Rosita was constructed, bringing the total to 114 rooms. Nearby, just two blocks away and with a stunning ocean view, the hotel’s sister property, El Pescador, was also established, currently offering 103 rooms. https://www.hotelelpescador.com

In 2019, the third property, Casa Carmen Boutique Hotel, was inaugurated, located next to Hotel Rosita and just half a block from the ocean. Casa Carmen, with its authentic villa style, offers only nine rooms, each uniquely decorated. https://carmenpv.com/

Hotel Rosita is recognized as the first formal hotel in Puerto Vallarta. Notably, it housed the first elevator and refrigeration chamber in the entire city. The hotel proudly maintains its authentic Mexican architecture, preserving the charm of real Mexico. https://hotelrosita.com
