Festival Green Macaw Boca de Tomatlán Nov 30

Unidos por la Guacamayas A.C. invites the entire population of Boca de Tomatlán and surrounding communities to the 2nd Festival of the Green Macaw in Boca de Tomatlán, Jalisco.

We are waiting for you this coming Saturday, November 30th at 11:00 AM and until 4:00 PM at the Boca de Tomatlán Boardwalk. We will have several activities for children and adults: drawing and crafts tables, a photographic exhibition of the flora and fauna of the region, storytelling, a raffle, scientific and informative tables on projects of environmental importance in the region and many more surprises! We are waiting for you.

We are a group of friends of the Green Macaw (Ara militaris) who, without profit, promote the conservation of this endangered species.

We live in the Bahía de Banderas region and come from diverse backgrounds, both geographically and in our academic and professional training: biologists, writers, guides, guards, environmental educators, volunteers and eco-tourism promoters; joining our efforts to show that no one is alien to the conservation of the Macaws, emblematic species of our region.

Faced with the imminent extinction of the Green Macaw (Ara militaris) under current conditions, Unidos por las Guacamayas A.C., seeks to reverse this trend, avoiding the illegal trafficking of its specimens; protecting the habitat it shares with many other animal and plant species, also vital for human survival, and forming a community awareness in favor of conservation.

In this way we seek to propose alternatives for the rational and sustainable use of the natural resources of these territories, in such a way that it allows a dignified life for the owners of the land that interact directly with the Green Macaw.
