Have you tried Vallarta burritas yet? They are a flour tortilla wrapped in a stew prepared with octopus, fish, shrimp or marlin. On your next getaway, don’t miss the opportunity to eat this street dish that continues to gain fame.
In Puerto Vallarta they are not burritos, they are burritas; and they do not have meat, they have seafood. In this part of the Jalisco coast, for more than two decades the delicious burritas began to become famous, a flour tortilla in which a selection of seafood is wrapped from shrimp, octopus, fish and marlin.
Burritas, one of the most famous street foods in Puerto Vallarta.
Whether you choose them with just one seafood or mix more than one, burritas are usually prepared in which shrimp, octopus, fish or marlin are sautéed in a pan with butter, onion, garlic and peppers. Each place has its own recipe and gives it its own touch.
Once this seafood stew is ready, it is wrapped in a flour tortilla to which lettuce, avocado, tomato and melted cheese are added. When wrapped, the burrita is given a rectangular shape and finished by heating it on the grill with a little more butter.
This preparation, which is usually accompanied with French fries or a special salad and dressings, has become one of the most requested street foods in Puerto Vallarta. On your next beach trip, be sure to try burritas; here is a list of places where you can find them.
La Burrita Marinera
A classic in Puerto Vallarta when it comes to eating burritas, they have two branches: one on Avenida las Américas in stores 8 and 9, and the other on Avenida Las Palmas before the intersection with Palma Sika. They have shrimp, octopus, marlin or mixed shrimp and octopus burritas. They accompany them with a small portion of creamy salad.

So that burritas are never missing from the table, at Tacón de Marlín with more than 27 years of existence they have three branches, two of them in Puerto Vallarta: the Airport Branch (Francisco Medina Ascencio 8106) and the Downtown Branch (Honduras 145). Their third branch is located in Guadalajara: at Avenida Hidalgo 1490, Colonia Americana, so if you get the craving you don’t have to travel to Puerto Vallarta.
