COOL OFF AT LOS VERANOS Just a few minutes south of Puerto Vallarta, along Highway 200 towards Barra de Navidad, you will find one of our favorite spots to escape the summer heat. It’s called Las Juntas and Los Veranos, and if you’ve never heard of it, we will tell you more.
What makes this place special is that it is bisected by the Horcones River, one of the main tributaries that flow into Banderas Bay, specifically the beautiful Boca de Tomatlán beach. This makes it a great place for recreational activities.
Among its main attractions are several parks with the famous zip lines, where you can add an adrenaline rush to your trip by gliding through the jungle before taking a refreshing dip in the river.
You can also go hiking or see some of the region’s endemic animal species, such as armadillos, raccoons, or the colorful macaws, so we recommend wearing comfortable, cool clothing.
If you get hungry, Las Juntas and Los Veranos have great riverside restaurants, some even with water slides to make your experience more fun. Interestingly, there were once two communities in this area claiming the same land: Las Juntas and Los Veranos. They eventually decided to merge into one community to achieve greater progress for themselves.
Need more reasons to visit? You will also find waterfalls and campsites where countless stars will be your companions all night long. Check out other ecotourism destinations here. Come and explore, and share your photos on our social media!
Ecotourism potential.
Due to the ecotourism potential and natural resources of the land, tourism, hunting , and fishing have emerged as important activities here . These activities are practiced in areas with high diversity of ecosystems, flora, fauna, and landscapes. This type of tourism, unlike traditional beach tourism, does not require extensive infrastructure or the service levels of large tourist centers to attract visitors to these places.

Activities.
Interpretive trails, birdwatching, camping areas, tours to the area’s scenic attractions, such as rivers , streams, waterfalls, deer , ocelot, parakeet, macaw, chachalaca, armadillo, badger, and otter sightings, sport fishing in rivers, agritourism: planting fruit trees, poultry farming, artisanal gum harvesting from chilte trees for chewing gum production, mountaineering, horseback riding , rural photography and wildlife photography, rock art, and swimming .
Zip line.
One of the prides of this community is the Los Veranos Canopy, a series of 15 ziplines strung along the Los Horcones River. From above, you can see almost the entire town, and from the highest point, you can even see the sea. The tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. Throughout the tour, you can observe a wide variety of wildlife and lush vegetation typical of the tropical rainforest, as well as a large number of birds, including parakeets, orioles, and woodpeckers, among others.

Craft workshops.
This is where the experience is based on participating in and learning the creation of different crafts using traditional methods and techniques. Currently, this activity is mostly represented by tours offered to tourists by tequila and raicilla distilleries, such as Tequila Tours.
Mystical experiences.
It offers the opportunity to experience and participate in the richness of the beliefs, legends, and divine rituals of a people, inherited from their ancestors.
Eco-archaeology.
These trips to archaeological sites reflect tourists’ interest in understanding the relationships between humans and the environment in ancient times, based on the material remains they have left behind, as well as their current importance as a form of cultural identity and environmental conservation.
Luxury camping.
Glamping is a form of camping that combines comfort and luxury in the middle of nature. In this sense, CABO REAL GLAMPING offers a unique experience in the region, combining exclusively designed geodesic domes with luxury, comfort, and experiences in the middle of the tropical jungle, with sustainability .
