Vallarta Botanical Garden 20 Years Celebration

Published on

Vallarta Botanical Garden 20 Years celebration/ Let’s celebrate 20 years of history, nature, and unforgettable moments at the Vallarta Botanical Garden. Our campaign, “Here’s to the next two decades of memories,” honors the stories that have blossomed among its paths, flowers, friendships, celebrations, and discoveries. A living space where every visitor leaves a lasting impression.

It all started with a dream!

“Botanical gardens are magical spaces where people can disconnect and reconnect with nature, and that’s what I wanted to bring to Vallarta. I feel blessed that what began as a dream is now a reality!”

Bob Price, Founder of the Vallarta Botanical Garden

The Vallarta Botanical Garden turned 20 on November 15.

What began as an arid hillside south of Puerto Vallarta is now a world-renowned botanical garden, showcasing 1,200 plant species and protecting over 120 hectares of threatened forests and delicate riparian ecosystems.

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we would love to see your photos and hear your memories from these past years! Whether it’s a family gathering, a marriage proposal, a walk along our trails with your favorite pet, or a moment of quiet reflection, tell us why the Vallarta Botanical Garden means something special to you.

What Is It / Why Visit

Biodiversity & Conservation

The garden is a large reserve (~32 hectares / ~79 acres), located ~400 meters (1,300 ft) above sea level.

It focuses on the Tropical Dry Forest biome, showcasing native Mexican plants alongside exotics.

Important plant collections include orchids (huge emphasis), oaks, bromeliads, agaves, cacti, and palms.

Conservation is a big part of their mission — they’re non-profit and run environmental education, propagation, and more.

Trails & Nature Experience

There are hiking trails both through manicured garden sections and into the more wild forest.

There’s a river (Río Horcones) running through the property where visitors can swim.

For bird watchers, it’s a very attractive spot — early morning or later in the day are especially good times.
